Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) On the morning of February 8th (the 20th day of the twelfth lunar month), Vietnamese President Luong Cuong and his wife, along with representatives from various central ministries and sectors, Hanoi city leaders, and 100 outstanding overseas Vietnamese representatives, solemnly held an incense-offering ceremony in front of the statue of Emperor Ly Thai To and at the Ngoc Son Temple in Hanoi.
This event was a core component of the "Spring of Hometown 2026" series of activities, jointly organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Hanoi People's Committee. Its aim was to promote the spirit of national unity—overseas Vietnamese, as an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation, always stand shoulder to shoulder with their motherland. The event not only demonstrated the deep care and responsibility of the Vietnamese Party and State for overseas Vietnamese but also aimed to inspire their patriotism and sense of roots, encouraging them to safeguard and inherit national culture, traditions, and mother tongue, thus uniting forces both at home and abroad to inject momentum into the country's sustainable development.
At the ceremony, Chairman Liang Quang and his wife, representatives of leaders at all levels, and overseas Vietnamese jointly offered incense to commemorate Emperor Ly Thai To, who founded and protected the ancient capital of Thang Long-Hanoi and defended the nation's beautiful landscape, as well as past sages, martyrs, and ancestors, expressing gratitude for the profound historical and cultural foundation they laid for the long-term stability of the capital and the country. At the same time, the group sincerely prayed for national peace and prosperity, and for Vietnam to achieve further breakthroughs on its journey towards peace, independence, democracy, prosperity, civilization, and happiness.
After the incense offering ceremony, Chairman Liang Quang and his wife, along with representatives of overseas Vietnamese, participated in a carp release activity at Hoan Kiem Lake. In the joyous atmosphere of welcoming the Lunar New Year and celebrating the founding of the Party, the Chairman warmly chatted with the overseas Vietnamese, inquiring about their work and lives, and sincerely thanking the overseas Vietnamese worldwide for always keeping their homeland and country in their hearts. He extended his best wishes for a happy, healthy, prosperous, and successful Lunar New Year.
Previously, a delegation of overseas Vietnamese had visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to pay their respects and laid a wreath at the Heroes and Martyrs Monument on Bac Son Road in Hanoi, expressing their remembrance and reverence.
It is reported that the "Spring of Hometown 2026" event, themed "Vietnam's Aspiration: Peace and Prosperity," was held in Hanoi from February 6th to 9th (the 19th to 22nd day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Snake), simultaneously connected with Ninh Binh Province, attracting approximately 1,500 overseas Vietnamese participants. As an important cultural and political event of great interest to overseas Vietnamese, the event featured numerous highlights. According to the plan, on the evening of February 8th, President Liang Quang will deliver a New Year's greeting at a cultural exchange event held at the National Convention Center, striking the drum to usher in the Spring Festival, and celebrating the holiday with all returning overseas Vietnamese.
