Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On January 20, 2026, the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam officially opened at the National Convention Center in Hanoi, the capital city. This congress is considered a significant milestone in ushering in a new era of national rejuvenation for Vietnam, outlining the major policies and guidelines for the development of the Party and the State over the next five years and beyond, and possessing profound historical significance. On the occasion of this grand event, Hanoi Party Secretary Nguyen Duy Ngoc gave an interview to the media, comprehensively reviewing Hanoi's remarkable achievements in recent years and clearly stating that Hanoi will shoulder its pioneering political responsibility, continue to play a leading role, and lay a solid foundation and inject momentum into the country's new era of development.

Secretary Nguyen Duy Ngoc stated that as the capital of Vietnam, Hanoi has always deeply recognized its pioneering and exemplary responsibility in implementing the resolutions of the Central Committee, especially in implementing the strategic decisions of the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, consistently taking the lead and effectively injecting strong momentum into the country's development. It is reported that Nguyen Duy Ngoc will assume the position of Party Secretary of Hanoi in November 2025. Prior to this, he experienced rapid promotion and possesses extensive experience in both grassroots and central government work, demonstrating a deep understanding and clear planning for Hanoi's development.

In the interview, Nguyen Duy Ngoc reviewed the past five years, noting that the Hanoi Party Committee, government, and all people worked together to overcome difficulties and successfully complete the resolutions and tasks set forth at the 17th Hanoi Party Congress (2020-2025 term). In particular, Hanoi has demonstrated outstanding performance in several reform and development initiatives by 2025, leading the nation in areas such as organizational reform, the construction of a two-tiered local government, decentralized management, administrative approval system reform, and digital transformation. Simultaneously, it has achieved a dual transformation in thinking and action, continuously improving the quality and efficiency of services to the people and businesses, and effectively translating the results of reform into tangible development benefits.

Nguyen Duy Ngoc emphasized that the convening of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam in Hanoi is not only an honor for the capital but also a supreme political responsibility facing the entire Party and nation. To prepare for this grand event, Hanoi proactively planned and implemented various political tasks, central government guidelines, and the city's action plan. The Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and the entire political system demonstrated a high degree of political resolve, consistently upholding a proactive, pioneering, innovative, and responsible spirit, effectively transforming the aspirations for national prosperity into tangible development achievements. The 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam also compiled a unified Political Report, incorporating an action program for the first time, clarifying the specific content, timelines, and responsibilities for various tasks, providing fundamental guidance for Hanoi's future development.

Regarding the core direction of Hanoi's future development, Nguyen Duy Ngoc explained that at the Fourth Hanoi Municipal Party Congress, the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee focused on and determined three pillars: "Institutional Mechanisms, a Century-Long Vision, and a Development Model." These three pillars constitute the key fulcrum of Hanoi's "three-legged" development strategy—by building a synchronized and complementary institutional foundation, opening up new development space, and shaping a modern growth model, injecting lasting momentum into the capital's breakthrough development.

Nguyen Duy Ngoc emphasized that the "human" factor plays a decisive role in translating strategic directions into tangible results, with cadre development and the concerted efforts of the people being particularly crucial. Hanoi has consistently regarded cadre work as "the most crucial of crucial factors," and will continue to focus on building a high-quality cadre team that is politically sound, ideologically steadfast, morally upright, professionally competent, innovative, and willing to take responsibility, to adapt to the new situation and requirements of digital transformation and deep integration into the international community. It is understood that during his previous tenure as Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Duy Ngoc accumulated rich experience in anti-corruption and cadre development, laying a solid foundation for Hanoi's cadre team building.

Regarding the work plan for 2026, Nguyen Duy Ngoc clearly stated that this year marks the beginning of the implementation of the resolutions of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Hanoi has established an action plan of "discipline, professionalism, breakthroughs, innovation, effectiveness, and sustainable development," and will adopt a sprint-like approach from the outset to ensure the effective implementation of all tasks.

Finally, Nguyen Duy Ngoc confidently stated that, with the strong political will of the entire political system and the unity and cooperation of all the people, Hanoi will steadily advance its goal of building a "documentary-civilized-modern-happy" capital, steadfastly pursue a path of sustainable and comprehensive development, strive to become a livable, business-friendly, and globally interconnected modern city, always uphold its position as the national central city, and truly play its role as a "locomotive," living up to the high expectations of the Central Committee and the trust and expectations of the people nationwide.
