Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – A solemn and enthusiastic atmosphere permeated the National Convention Center in Hanoi this morning, resonating with the nationwide jubilation and excitement in anticipation of the grand event. Party members, cadres, the general public, armed forces personnel, and overseas Vietnamese communities all expressed their earnest anticipation and unwavering confidence in the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), a major national political event.

Guided by the principles of "unity, democracy, discipline, breakthrough, and development," the 14th CPV Congress will be solemnly held in Hanoi from January 19th to 25th, 2026. 1,586 delegates will attend the congress, carrying the trust of over 5.6 million party members nationwide. This congress will not only determine Vietnam's development direction for the next five years and beyond, but will also clarify the strategic deployment for a new journey,凝聚ing collective strength to achieve national development goals.

At the start of the first working day of the Congress, Party and State leaders, leaders of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and all delegates will lay wreaths and pay their respects at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to commemorate the great leader's achievements. They will then lay wreaths and burn incense at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs to deeply mourn the national heroes who bravely sacrificed themselves for the independence and freedom of the motherland, and to carry forward the red gene and patriotic spirit.

At the international press conference for the 14th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam held on the afternoon of January 14, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Standing Deputy Director of the Central Committee Office, announced that the Congress will observe a minute's silence specifically for the late former General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the Central Committee members who passed away during the 13th term. This arrangement is imbued with deep remembrance for the deceased and demonstrates the highest respect for their outstanding contributions to the Party's construction and national development. As the longest-serving leader since Vietnam's reform and opening up, Nguyen Phu Trong's anti-corruption and reform initiatives laid an important foundation for national development.

The opening ceremony of the congress will be attended by representatives from various sectors, including former members of the Politburo, Secretariat, and Central Committee; representatives of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; and prominent figures, intellectuals, artists, religious leaders, and outstanding youth representatives from across the country, all witnessing this historic moment.

The theme of this congress is clearly stated: "Under the glorious banner of the Party, let us unite as one and work together to achieve the national development goals by 2030; with strategic autonomy, self-reliance, and confidence, let us forge ahead in this era of national rejuvenation, dedicating ourselves to peace, independence, democracy, prosperity, civilization, and happiness, and steadily moving towards socialism." Around this theme, the congress will focus on the long-term goal of becoming an "upper-middle-income" modern industrialized country by 2030 and joining the ranks of high-income developed countries by 2045, and will deploy groundbreaking development measures.

During the conference, delegates will focus on discussing and voting on several key documents, including: the political report submitted by the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (the draft explicitly elevates diplomacy to a "core, regular" task of equal importance with defense and domestic security, highlighting the demand for strategic autonomy); a report summarizing the theory and practice of Vietnam's 40-year reform movement along the socialist path; a report summarizing the implementation of the 15-year Party Constitution (2011-2025) and proposing directions for supplementary amendments; and a summary report on the leadership and guidance work of the 13th Central Committee, thus solidifying the institutional and theoretical foundation for development in the new term.

In addition, the conference will elect a new Central Committee and Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam, simultaneously promoting the optimization of the leadership structure. Previously, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam had clearly adjusted the "four-horse carriage" leadership system to a "five-horse carriage," adding the Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam as the main leader of the Party and the State, demonstrating the reform direction of a streamlined, efficient, and coordinated political system.
