Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the morning of December 1st, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Jorge Leganhova, Director General of the Cuban Latin American News Agency, at the government residence. Leganhova was on a working visit to Vietnam.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Vietnam will forever remember the support Cuba provided to Vietnam in its struggle for national independence, national construction, and defense. He pointed out that, starting from the initial foundation laid by Cuban national heroes José Martí, President Ho Chi Minh, and Cuban leader Fidel Castro, and after 65 years of development, the special comradeship and brotherhood between the two parties, countries, armies, and peoples of Vietnam and Cuba has been continuously consolidated and deepened at all levels, through all channels, and in all fields.
Currently, Vietnam is Cuba's second-largest trading partner and the largest investor in Cuba from the Asia-Pacific region. Through a series of cooperative projects in food security, rice, corn, and aquaculture, Vietnam has helped the Cuban people overcome many difficulties. Recently, in a short-term fundraising campaign for "65 Years of Vietnam-Cuba Friendship," the Vietnamese people donated over 650 billion VND, more than ten times the initial target. Furthermore, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Cuba promptly provided vaccine assistance to the Vietnamese people.
Based on the strong bilateral relations, the relationship between Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and Prensa Latina is also very special and sincere. Both sides are always willing to create the most favorable conditions for each other to jointly accomplish their tasks.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Vietnam has always stood shoulder to shoulder with Cuba, sharing development experiences and readily supporting Cuba in ensuring food security, energy, and telecommunications development.
Analyzing the global situation, the revolutionary tasks of both countries, various challenges, and global media trends, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that VNA and Prensa Latina continue their close cooperation, effectively maintaining cooperative activities; and simultaneously seeking new ways of cooperation, supporting each other in professional services, technology, and media infrastructure to align with the trends of the times.
Jorge Leganhova, President of the Cuban News Agency for Latin America (CNA), expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister for taking the time to meet with him and conveyed his deep sympathy for the Vietnamese people affected by the recent typhoons and floods.
President Leganhova stated that he was proud of the excellent relations between the two countries, including the relationship between the two national news agencies. As President Fidel Castro once said, "Cuba is willing to shed its blood for Vietnam!" Conversely, Vietnam is always ready to contribute and share for Cuba, and the recent fundraising campaign launched by the Vietnamese people for Cuba is a vivid manifestation of this spirit.
Reviewing the history of cooperation between CNA and Vietnam News Agency (VNA), Jorge Leganhova emphasized that CNA will work closely with VNA, following Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's guidance, to more effectively advance cooperation in various fields. (End)
