Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – A delegation led by Doan Trung Kien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tay Ninh Province, Vietnam, attended the 13th Vietnam-Cambodia Border Provinces Cooperation and Development Conference in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from November 28th to 29th. The aim was to deepen cooperation between Tay Ninh Province and its neighboring Cambodian provinces in border areas, working together to build a peaceful, friendly, and sustainable border.

According to a report by the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Phnom Penh, at the Vietnam-Cambodia Border Provinces Cooperation and Development Conference co-chaired by Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Sokha on the afternoon of November 28th, Doan Trung Kien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tay Ninh Province, delivered a special report entitled "Several Measures to Promote Cooperation and Development in Border Areas between Tay Ninh Province and Cambodian Neighbourhood Provinces." He emphasized that Tay Ninh Province views border area development not only as an economic task but also as a political responsibility, concerning the construction of a peaceful, friendly, and sustainable border between the two countries.

Doan Trung Kien pointed out that Tay Ninh Province possesses a strategic location along the East-West Economic Corridor and is an important gateway connecting Cambodia and ASEAN countries. The province boasts a nearly 369-kilometer border, a well-developed border system, and dozens of thriving industrial clusters. Leveraging these advantages, Tay Ninh province achieved a GDP growth rate of 9.52%, ranking first in southeastern Vietnam; it attracted 1,952 foreign direct investment projects with a total registered capital of US$24.5 billion; and its fiscal revenue exceeded 124% of the budget.

Doan Trung Kien emphasized that these advantages make Tay Ninh province not only a hotbed for investment, trade, and tourism, but also a vital bridge in the development of Vietnam-Cambodia border cooperation. In recent years, Tay Ninh province has signed three comprehensive cooperation agreements and 36 departmental-level cooperation mechanism documents with Cambodia's Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, and Tbong Khmum provinces. This southeastern Vietnamese province is actively promoting economic, trade, and tourism cooperation and plans to develop the Moc Bai border crossing economic zone into a new regional commercial center—by the first three quarters of 2025, the province's imports and exports to Cambodia had reached US$2.74 billion.

On the 28th, Doan Trung Kien also attended the Vietnam-Cambodia Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM). The two delegations held in-depth exchanges on several important issues concerning bilateral cooperation, with a particular focus on border trade development, connectivity of border infrastructure, border management cooperation, and the implementation of signed agreements. The active participation of Tay Ninh provincial leaders at this forum fully demonstrated the proactive and constructive role of local authorities in strengthening bilateral cooperation and building a peaceful, friendly, and sustainable border.

Prior to this, Vice Chairman Doan Trung Kien led a working delegation on a courtesy call on the leadership of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia. (End)
