During the meeting, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh emphasized that Vietnam and Belarus enjoy a long-standing traditional friendship, which has been carefully nurtured by successive leaders of both countries. In particular, 2025 is a significant milestone in bilateral relations. During the state visit of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lin, to Belarus in May 2025, both sides agreed to elevate bilateral relations to a strategic partnership, opening a new stage for bilateral relations in the new era. She expressed her belief that the friendship between Vietnam and Belarus, as well as comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, will undoubtedly bring more new opportunities for cooperation to women in both nations.
During this visit to Vietnam, the Belarusian Women's Union and the Vietnam Women's Union signed a memorandum of understanding containing three key areas and carried out related activities in several locations in Vietnam. These activities will help promote cooperation between the women's associations of the two countries and provide a good opportunity to share national development experiences, especially on issues related to gender equality and women's development.
In introducing the proceedings of the 10th session of the 15th National Assembly, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh stated that the Vietnamese National Assembly is discussing elections for the 2026-2031 term, with a key objective being to ensure that women make up at least 30% of the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels.
Nguyen Thi Thanh expressed her hope that the women's associations of the two countries will continue to share experiences in initiatives promoting peace, culture, and humanistic values through various means; actively share experiences in political participation to enhance women's empowerment and contribute to the development of their respective countries and the common progress of humanity. She also suggested that the women's associations of the two countries continue to support each other in multilateral, bilateral, and international forums.
Olga Alexandrovna Shpirevskaya stated that Vietnam is one of Belarus's important partners in Asia and a driving force for global economic growth. Over the past thirty years, the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries have made significant progress in many areas. She also emphasized that cooperation between Belarusian and Vietnamese women is expected to make significant contributions to the development of bilateral relations in all areas, including culture, economy, and society.
