Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On November 14, 2025, the second Vietnam-Cambodia border defense friendship exchange activity was held in Bavet City, Kratie Province, Cambodia. General Phan Van Giang, Member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defense, led a high-level delegation from the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense to Cambodia to participate in the activity via the Moc Bai International Border Crossing.

On the morning of the same day, General Phan Van Giang presided over a ceremony at the Moc Bai International Border Crossing to pay tribute to and repaint the No. 171 boundary marker, marking the official start of the exchange activity.

At the welcoming ceremony held by the Cambodian side, General Dee Siha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of the Kingdom of Cambodia, greeted General Phan Van Giang and his delegation at the Bavet International Border Crossing. Both sides jointly repainted the boundary marker, witnessed a joint patrol by border troops of the two countries, and planted a friendship tree at the border crossing.

As an important part of this exchange activity, the Sang Sovan Primary School in Svayithiap District, Kratie Province, funded by the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, officially commenced construction. The school covers 3 hectares and is planned to include 7 teaching buildings, a football field, volleyball courts, and other supporting facilities, accommodating over 400 students upon completion.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, General Pan Wenjiang stated that the school is not only a new engineering project but also a symbol of the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia, reflecting the high importance both countries' defense departments and militaries place on nurturing the next generation. He emphasized that throughout history, the people and military of both countries have fought side-by-side, overcoming challenges in the fight against colonialism and imperialism, and overthrowing genocidal regimes. Today, they are taking concrete actions to maintain and cultivate this special relationship.

On the same day, delegations from both countries visited the Kratie Provincial Gendarmerie Command, established in 1994, to learn about its functions in maintaining social order, combating crime, ensuring national defense and security, and international cooperation.

General Dessiha highly praised the results of this exchange activity, noting that 2025 is a year of strong development for defense cooperation between the two countries. Through mutual visits of delegations, training, joint exercises, and exchanges among Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, both sides are continuously strengthening mutual trust and promoting a shared security vision. He thanked Vietnam for its assistance in building the Sang Sovan Primary School and for signing several cooperation agreements, stating that Cambodia is willing to continue close cooperation with Vietnam, maintaining the traditional border protection conference mechanism, joint military medical exercises, and youth officer exchange programs, contributing to strengthening understanding and deepening friendship between the younger generations of the two countries.
