Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – A delegation of young officers from the Vietnamese border guard forces and young officers from the Royal Cambodian Army Command and Gendarmerie Command jointly held a symposium entitled "Inheriting Tradition, Inspiring the Future" in Tan Ninh City, Tay Ninh Province on the evening of November 12. Major General Vu Quoc An, Deputy Political Commissar of the Vietnamese Border Guard, and Lieutenant General Thien Sok Phong Weng, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Director of the Border Guard Department, co-chaired the symposium.

Vietnam and Cambodia share a land border of approximately 1,258 kilometers, traversing 10 provinces in Vietnam and 9 provinces in Cambodia. For many years, the governments, armed forces, and people of both countries have consistently and diligently implemented various agreements, protocols, and cooperation regulations, maintaining stability in territorial sovereignty and security along the Vietnam-Cambodia border, and consolidating and maintaining the border line and boundary markers. The friendly and united relations between the two countries have been continuously strengthened, and the cooperation and exchanges between the young border guards of both countries have become increasingly close and profound.

Representatives at the meeting emphasized that the close relationship between the two countries' armies and peoples was forged through bloodshed and countless generations of sacrifice. They expressed hope that today's young military officers from Vietnam and Cambodia would carry on this tradition, acting with unity, mutual understanding, and close cooperation; always prioritizing the interests of peace and friendship; and working together to build a peaceful, friendly, and developing border.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense awarded scholarships to 60 students from both countries who are facing financial difficulties. (End)
