Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Recently, the Vietnam Buddhist Association and the Thai Embassy in Vietnam jointly held a ceremony to consecrate the Royal Kathina Robe at the Vietnam National Pagoda in Ho Chi Minh City.
Thai Deputy Foreign Minister Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Urawadee Sriphiromya, and representatives including Pham Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee, attended the ceremony.
Venerable Thich Tri Quang, Abbot of the Certification Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Association, Venerable Thich Thien Nhan, Vice Abbot of the Certification Council and Chairman of the Administrative Council, and other clergy members of the Vietnam Buddhist Association participated in the event.
The 2025 Royal Kathina Robe Consecration Ceremony coincides with the elevation of bilateral relations between Thailand and Vietnam to a comprehensive strategic partnership. This is also one of the significant events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand (1976-2026).
This ceremony is of profound significance, not only as a religious ritual with high spiritual value, but also as an opportunity to strengthen friendship and sustainable cultural exchange between the people of Vietnam and Thailand.
Since 1995, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has held the Royal Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony annually at overseas temples as part of Thailand's cultural diplomacy efforts, aiming to consolidate friendship and strengthen people-to-people ties through Buddhism. In 2025, the Royal Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony will be held in eight countries: India, Myanmar, Malaysia, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Laos, Vietnam, and China. In Vietnam, the Royal Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony will be held for the 18th time. (End)
