Promoting "Four More" Cooperation between Northern Border Provinces of Vietnam and Yunnan Province of China

  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the morning of October 30th, the fifth annual meeting of the Party Secretaries of Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, and Dien Bien provinces of Vietnam and Yunnan Province of China was held in Lai Chau.

  The meeting reached a high degree of consensus on future cooperation directions based on the spirit of "four more" (closer friendly exchanges, deeper pragmatic cooperation, broader cooperation areas, and closer people-to-people exchanges).

  At the meeting, Nguyen Minh Vu, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, suggested that both sides should fully explore local potential and advantages, strengthen cooperation to promote common development, and create favorable conditions for regular exchanges between enterprises of the two countries, seeking cooperation opportunities, and participating in business forums.

  Both sides should strive to elevate bilateral trade to a new level, jointly build a peaceful and stable border, create favorable conditions for deepening friendship between the border people of the two countries, earnestly implement border legal documents, and actively promote people-to-people exchanges and other activities.

  Lai Chau Provincial Party Secretary Le Minh Ngan emphasized that this meeting was an important opportunity for localities to further solidify the consensus reached by the high-level leaders of the two parties and countries, contributing to deeper exchanges and pragmatic cooperation, jointly elevating Vietnam-China relations to a new level, and contributing to regional and global peace, stability, and prosperity.

  Regarding the outcomes of the fourth meeting, Le Minh Ngan stated that the consensus reached by both sides has been actively implemented, yielding numerous important and comprehensive results, bringing tangible benefits to the people of both countries.

  In 2026 and beyond, Le Minh Ngan proposed several directions for cooperation, including continuing to implement the consensus reached by the high-level leaders of the two parties and countries. Furthermore, provinces should strengthen guidance from relevant departments and localities, actively promote signed cooperation agreements, ensure practicality and efficiency, fully leverage their respective potential and advantages, and adhere to the principles of equality and mutual benefit.

  He also suggested strengthening mutual visits and exchanges at all levels; coordinating with central ministries of both countries to expedite the construction of the multi-functional cross-border highway bridge, railway connectivity project, and smart border crossing between Vietnam's Ma Lu Tang border crossing and China's Jin Shui He border crossing.

  The provinces agreed to jointly improve the efficiency of economic and trade cooperation, support and facilitate visits and long-term investment cooperation by enterprises from both countries, and further deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields to boost economic development in both regions.

  Wang Ning, Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, expressed his hope to continue promoting bilateral cooperation, expanding economic and trade exchanges, and strengthening people-to-people exchanges; actively advancing in-depth cooperation in multiple fields to promote closer bilateral economic and trade development.

  He also proposed strengthening transportation connectivity, expanding green energy cooperation, building smart ports, and providing support for mutual visits and cooperation between enterprises from both countries, jointly building a peaceful, friendly, stable, and mutually beneficial border.

  Within the framework of the meeting, both sides jointly signed the minutes of the fifth meeting and agreed that the sixth meeting will be held in Yunnan Province in 2026. (End)
