  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – According to reports from the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam and correspondents of the Vietnam News Agency, as of 5:30 PM on October 29th, due to continuous heavy rainfall and flooding, 7,253 households, totaling 22,080 people, have been urgently evacuated and safely relocated from high-risk areas for landslides and flooding in several provinces of Vietnam.

  The floods have caused severe damage in Quang Tri, Da Nang, Lam Dong, Quang Ngai, and Hue provinces, including 2,535 hectares of rice and crops damaged by flooding, 549 hectares of fruit trees affected, 50 houses destroyed or collapsed, 110 houses damaged, and 127,594 homes flooded. Furthermore, landslides have disrupted traffic on several roads, severely impacting transportation.

  As of now, the floods have resulted in 16 deaths or missing persons, including 9 dead (1 in Hue, 7 in Da Nang, and 1 in Lam Dong) and 7 missing (2 in Quang Tri, 1 in Hue, and 4 in Da Nang). Fifteen people have also been injured in Da Nang.

  Following the disaster, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, extended his heartfelt condolences on October 29 to compatriots, cadres, and soldiers across the country fighting on the front lines of disaster relief.

  In response to the disaster, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired an online meeting on the morning of the same day with ministries and the People's Committees of Quang Tri to Quang Ngai provinces and cities, personally directing the flood response and post-disaster reconstruction efforts. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha attended the meeting at the Hue branch venue.

  According to Decision No. 2400 issued by the Vietnamese Prime Minister on October 29, the government will urgently allocate VND 3.5 trillion (approximately RMB 1 billion) from the 2025 central budget reserve to the three most severely affected regions. Hue City will receive VND 1.5 trillion, while Quang Tri and Quang Ngai provinces will each receive VND 1 trillion, for emergency post-disaster recovery and livelihood security.

  Currently, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha continues to oversee disaster relief efforts along the Hue-Da Nang line, ensuring the smooth progress of rescue work.

  Affected areas are accelerating damage assessment and recovery efforts, striving to restore normal production and daily life as soon as possible. (End)
