
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the morning of October 28, Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes held a press conference in Hanoi to introduce Cuba's draft resolution, titled "Necessity of Ending the United States Economic, Commercial, and Financial Blockade Against Cuba" (A/80/L.6), which will be submitted to the United Nations General Assembly for consideration.
Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes stated that the UN General Assembly will consider the draft resolution from October 28 to 29.
This is the 34th time Cuba has submitted a draft resolution to the UN General Assembly calling for the United States to lift its blockade against Cuba. He emphasized that while Cuba continues to submit draft resolutions to the General Assembly, it remains committed to engaging in dialogue with the United States on the basis of equality, respect for international law, and national sovereignty.
Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes took the opportunity to convey the sincere gratitude of the Cuban Party, State, and people to the Vietnamese Party, State, and people. They thanked Vietnam for its consistent and steadfast support for Cuba in promoting the normalization of relations between Cuba and the United States, and for its continued calls for the United States to lift its blockade against Cuba in accordance with relevant UN General Assembly resolutions, effectively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the Cuban people, and for its commitment to maintaining peace, stability, and cooperative development in the Americas and globally.
He noted that Vietnam has demonstrated its deep friendship with the Cuban people not only in material terms but also in political and humanitarian terms. Recently, the Vietnam Red Cross and several political and social organizations jointly launched a fundraising campaign for Cuba themed "65 Years of Vietnam-Cuba Friendship." The campaign is part of the "2025 Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year" commemorating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1960-2025). (End)
