The 16th Vietnam-Singapore Defense Policy Dialogue was held in Da Nang

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) reported that the 16th Vietnam-Singapore Defense Policy Dialogue was held in Da Nang City on October 28. The dialogue was chaired by Vietnamese Deputy Defense Minister General Hoang Xuan Chien and Singapore's Ministry of Defense Permanent Secretary Tan Khanh Kee.

  During the dialogue, the two sides exchanged views on the global and regional situation and issues of mutual concern. General Hoang Xuan Chien emphasized ASEAN's important role in shaping and maintaining the regional security architecture and promoting substantive cooperation among its member states and between ASEAN and its partners.

  Regarding the South China Sea issue, General Hoang Xuan Chien reiterated Vietnam's consistent position of resolving all disputes and differences through peaceful means.

  Regarding the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting (ADMM) and ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM+) cooperation processes, General Hoang Xuan Chien stated that Vietnam highly values ​​Singapore's role and effective contributions to the ADMM and ADMM+ cooperation processes. Vietnam pledged to continue to actively and responsibly participate in the joint efforts of the ADMM and ADMM+ to maintain regional peace and stability.

  General Hoang Xuan Chien suggested that the two sides should continue to strengthen trust-based, comprehensive, and pragmatic cooperation in the future. Key areas include: strengthening delegation exchanges and high-level meetings at all levels; leveraging the effectiveness of existing cooperation mechanisms; maintaining the effectiveness of human resources training cooperation; and enhancing cooperation and exchanges between the two countries' navies, air forces, and coast guards.

  On this occasion, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense cordially invites Singaporean Ministry of National Defense officials and Permanent Secretary Tan Keng Kee to attend the 3rd Vietnam International Defense Exhibition, scheduled for 2026.

  Singaporean Ministry of National Defense Permanent Secretary Tan Keng Kee emphasized that Singapore remains willing to cooperate and support Vietnam in its response to natural disasters.

  Tan Keng Kee reiterated that the Vietnam-Singapore cooperative relationship is developing strongly and is continuously being consolidated and developed, with defense cooperation being a key pillar. Tan Keng Kee expressed hope that, building on the outcomes of the 16th Defense Policy Dialogue, the two sides will continue to coordinate and advance the areas of cooperation agreed upon in the future, focusing on naval, training, and cybersecurity cooperation, thereby elevating bilateral defense cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore to a new level.

  At the end of the dialogue, the heads of the two delegations signed a three-year defense cooperation plan for 2025-2028 and a memorandum of understanding on strengthening training cooperation between the two defense ministries, and jointly witnessed the signing ceremony of a document on naval cooperation between the two countries.
