Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the 23rd, it was learned from the Management Committee of the Ningxia Helan Mountain East Foothills Wine Industrial Park that during the Chengdu Spring National Sugar and Wine Fair, Baudouin Havaux, Chairman of the Brussels International Wine Competition (CMB) Organizing Committee, officially announced that the 5th Ningxia Helan Mountain East Foothills International Wine Competition and the 3rd (Ningxia) Brussels "Marselan" International Wine Competition will be held in Yinchuan this year.
The Brussels International Wine Competition is one of the world's three top wine competitions, often referred to as the "Oscars" of the wine industry. Since their collaboration in 2016, the competition and the Ningxia Helan Mountain East Foothills wine region have been in partnership for ten years. In 2025, the 32nd Brussels International Wine Competition was successfully held in Yinchuan, further enhancing the international influence of Chinese wines.
This year's competition features three core sections. The CMB 10-Year Gold Medal China Wine Appreciation focuses on award-winning wines currently on the market since 2016. It employs a dual-track judging model, with professional judges and public tasting each accounting for 50% of the evaluation. Public tastings are held in multiple cities across China from April to July, culminating in a blind tasting in Yinchuan by international judges to select outstanding wines with both quality and aging potential.
The 3rd (Ningxia) Brussels "Marselan" International Wine Competition will be held in Yinchuan from July to August. The competition uses an internationally recognized judging system, conducting group blind tastings. Scoring data is uploaded to Brussels headquarters in real time, and the results are subject to dual supervision by the EU and Belgium. Grand Gold, Gold, and Silver medals will be awarded, and professional tasting analysis reports will be provided to participating wineries. Ningxia accounts for 65% of the country's Marselan planting area, boasting distinctive terroir. The competition will continue to explore the potential of varieties and establish a landmark category for Chinese wine.
The concurrently launched "Raise a Glass to Helan Mountain" inaugural CMB Wine Taster Challenge will have preliminary rounds in various cities and a final in Yinchuan, recruiting tasting talents globally. The competition offers generous rewards, with the top five contestants nationwide qualifying directly for the 2027 CMB International Judge competition. The champion, runner-up, and third-place winners will receive cash prizes of 20,000 yuan, 10,000 yuan, and 5,000 yuan respectively, contributing to the cultivation of an internationally-minded tasting talent pool.
This series of competitions, held in Yinchuan, empowers industry upgrading with international standards, further enhancing the reputation of the Ningxia Helan Mountain East Foothills wine region and propelling Chinese wines onto the world stage. (End)
