Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) April 29th – The S249 highway in Xinjiang, from Koumenzi to Nanshankou, has resumed operation after its winter closure, allowing vehicles with 7 seats or less to pass. It is open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The S249 highway, traversing the Tianshan Mountains from Hami Nanshankou, is an important tourist route, stretching 61.94 kilometers and known as the "Most Beautiful Tianshan Highway."
The 26-kilometer section from Koumenzi to Nanshankou on the S249 highway was closed from October to April/May of the following year due to frequent snowfall in winter, making maintenance and traffic impossible. This section of the road is winding and steep, with numerous bends, creating stunning scenery. Driving along this route, tourists can traverse the vast Gobi Desert and cross the Tianshan Mountains, reaching the picturesque grasslands and taking in the breathtaking views of the Tianshan Mountains.
