Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the evening of June 15th, the classic dance drama *Confucius*, which has toured the world for over 100 performances, graced the stage of the Kwai Tsing Theatre in Hong Kong as part of the "Chinese Style and Charm Spreads Through Hong Kong" cultural series. The artists from the China National Opera and Dance Drama Theater delivered a stellar performance that evening, receiving thunderous applause.

This production uses the power and beauty of classical Chinese dance to bring the audience closer to Confucius and Confucian culture, allowing them to experience the profound influence of five thousand years of Chinese cultural heritage. The opening dance, "Holding Feathers," recreates the grand scene of the pre-Qin dynasty's "Feather Dance"; the male dance, "Ode to the Wise," depicts a scene of scholars gathering, exchanging ideas, composing poems, and singing; the female dance, "Gathering Ferns," presents a moving scene of lush willows and vibrant life through the graceful movements of ladies; the classic "Jade Dance" expresses Confucius's ideal of "a gentleman is like jade," praising the understated and unassuming character of a gentleman.

The costumes in the dance drama drew inspiration from the patterns of painted wooden figurines from the Warring States period, achieving a bridging of ancient and modern times. Exquisite tables and chairs, and beautiful murals against the backdrop of Confucius lecturing at the Apricot Altar, all vividly recreated the grandeur of the Spring and Autumn Period. The actors' perfect performances recreated the arduous yet persistent life of Confucius, who pursued the ideals of "benevolence and propriety" more than 2,000 years ago.

At the end of the performance, the entire audience erupted in cheers and applause as the actors took their final curtain calls. After the performance, many audience members expressed that they were deeply moved and profoundly impressed. Mr. Chen, a citizen, said, "Confucius is a sage, a great man. He endured hardship and ultimately earned people's respect. Thank you for performing in Hong Kong."

The dance drama's director, Kong Dexin, is a 77th-generation descendant of Confucius. When discussing the initial inspiration for the production, she stated that the drama places Confucius within the context of his era, nation, and nature, using physical language to express his joys and sorrows, and employing rich musical melodies and stage imagery to present his inner world and emotions. It showcases Confucius's Confucian thought, personal charm, spiritual qualities, and wisdom, conveying traditional Chinese culture.

It is reported that this year's "National Style and Charm Spread in Hong Kong" event, hosted by the China Arts and Entertainment Group, opened with the National Ballet of China's productions of *The Red Detachment of Women* and *Swan Lake*. In addition to *Confucius*, the Hubei Performing Arts Group's *Opera, Bianzhong, and Symphony Concert* was also held concurrently at the Sha Tin Town Hall. (End)
