According to reports, Dapeng Bay, located in the northeastern waters of Hong Kong, presents a beautiful scene of "clear water, clean beaches, abundant fish and seagulls, and harmony between humans and the sea." Its water quality indicators have an overall compliance rate of 100%, meeting the national Class I seawater quality standard. The bay's rich and diverse ecosystem is an important habitat for many nationally protected wild animals, including stony corals, seahorses, horseshoe crabs, and white-bellied eagles. Dapeng Bay also features the Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark, Yin Chau Tong, and Tung Ping Chau Marine Park, allowing citizens to appreciate the bay's rich and diverse ecological and geological wonders up close and experience firsthand the harmonious coexistence of humans and the ocean.
Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department Director Tsui Ho-kwong stated that the environmental governance of Dapeng Bay fully embodies the concept of harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature, providing an important reference example for the governance of bays in densely populated areas of the country. Through the opportunity of Dapeng Bay being selected as an "Outstanding Case of Beautiful Bays," the Hong Kong SAR will share its experience in promoting the construction of "Beautiful Bays" with coastal cities in mainland China, jointly promoting marine ecological environmental protection and sustainable development.
