The 3rd Cross-Strait Chinese Culture Summit, with the permanent theme of "Inheritance, Promotion, and Development" and the annual theme of "Blood Ties and Cultural Connections," opened in Beijing on the 11th. More than 800 representatives from various sectors, including the cultural field, from both sides of the Taiwan Strait attended.

Yin Li, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee, delivered a speech, stating that General Secretary Xi Jinping attaches great importance to inheriting and promoting traditional Chinese culture, emphasizing that compatriots on both sides of the Strait share the same roots, language, and culture, and that Chinese culture is the root and source of belonging for compatriots on both sides. We are willing to work with our compatriots in Taiwan to continue the roots of traditional culture, deepen cultural exchanges and cooperation, and inspire emotional resonance and mutual understanding between the people on both sides in promoting Chinese culture, thereby enhancing the sense of belonging, identity, and honor of the Chinese nation. We will promote cultural innovation and cooperation, share the fruits of integrated development, and enrich the spiritual and cultural lives of people on both sides of the Strait. We will explore the contemporary value of Chinese culture, promote Chinese culture to the world, inject strong spiritual impetus into the joint efforts of both sides in advancing the great cause of national reunification, and allow Chinese people on both sides of the Strait to share the glory of national rejuvenation.

Song Tao, Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the CPC Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, presided over the opening ceremony. He stated that holding this Cross-Strait Chinese Culture Summit is a vivid practice of implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech during his meeting with Kuomintang Chairperson Cheng Li-wen. Chinese culture is the foundation of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and the strongest backbone in the face of adversity. He hoped that cultural figures from Taiwan would join hands with us to guide our compatriots in Taiwan to firmly uphold their national stance, strengthen their cultural confidence, take Chinese culture as their root, prioritize national righteousness, resolutely oppose "Taiwan independence" separatism and external interference, jointly safeguard the common homeland of the Chinese nation, and jointly create a bright future for national rejuvenation.

Zhang Hongsen, Chairman of the China Writers Association, stated in his address that cultural figures on both sides of the Strait should work together with one heart and one mind to continuously deepen mutual understanding between compatriots on both sides, contributing to cross-Strait cultural exchange and cooperation with peaceful wisdom, a broad mind, historical responsibility, and a future-oriented vision, and bringing more happiness to future generations through our actions.

In his address, Chang Jung-kung, Vice Chairman of the Kuomintang (KMT), stated that the summit's permanent theme, "Inheritance, Promotion, and Development," is also an enduring theme of common concern to all those who love Chinese culture. The KMT is willing to work with all relevant parties to promote cross-strait cultural exchange and cooperation on the common political basis of adhering to the "1992 Consensus" and opposing "Taiwan independence," striving for the greatest well-being for people on both sides of the strait and paving the way for a magnificent future for national rejuvenation. Liu Chao-hsuan, Chairman of the Taiwan Foundation for the Sustainable Development of Chinese Culture, stated in his address that Chinese culture has continued for thousands of years without interruption, and no matter where we are, we can find resonance within this cultural context.

The main forum of the summit was held on the same day. Kang Zhen, Vice President of Beijing Normal University; Yin Chi-ming, Director of the Taiwan Foundation for the Sustainable Development of Chinese Culture; Shan Ji-xiang, former Director of the Palace Museum; and Feng Ming-chu, Director of the Taiwan Bao Ji Xiang Institute of Culture and History, among other guests from both sides of the strait, delivered keynote speeches on jointly promoting Chinese culture.
