Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The 5th “Xianfeng·Tangya World Heritage Forum” opened on the 29th, bringing together experts and scholars from home and abroad, as well as representatives from other World Heritage site management organizations, to Xianfeng, Hubei Province, to discuss the paths and directions for the protection and utilization of World Heritage sites.

Located in Xianfeng County, the Tangya Tusi City Site was first built in 1355 and is one of the best-preserved Tusi city sites in Southwest China. In 2015, the “Tusi Sites” project, comprising the Tangya Tusi City Site in Xianfeng, Hubei Province, the Laosi City Site in Yongshun, Hunan Province, and the Hailongtun Site in Zunyi, Guizhou Province, was inscribed on the World Heritage List.

At the opening ceremony, the “Archaeological Excavation Report of the Tangya Tusi City Site” and a themed tour route showcasing cultural relics from Chinese Tusi sites were released; Xianfeng, Hubei Province, Yongshun, Hunan Province, and Huichuan, Guizhou Province jointly signed the “Ten-Year Action Plan for the Protection and Utilization of Tusi Sites (2026-2035)”. Following this, participating experts and scholars engaged in in-depth discussions on two main themes: "Tusi Culture and Ethnic Exchange and Integration" and "Cultural Heritage Protection and Utilization and High-Quality Development of the Cultural Tourism Industry."

Lu Qiong, Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Cultural Relics Society, believes that it is crucial to seize the opportunities brought by technological advancements and the rapid development of information technology, utilizing big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence to provide new methods for the management, monitoring, protection, restoration, display, dissemination, and revitalization of cultural heritage.

Alfredo Momontoi Atayupanchi, an archaeology professor from Peru, stated that the Tangya Tusi City Site and the ancient city of Machu Picchu in Peru are both vivid symbols of human memory, and their protection relies on legislation, awareness, respect, and cooperation.

Du Zhizhang, Vice Dean of the Huazhong Think Tank at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, suggested that the Tangya Tusi City Site could be developed into a Tusi cultural and creative product trading market and a "Tangya Tusi" cultural IP, and could be linked with other Tusi sites in western Hubei, western Hunan, and northeastern Guizhou to jointly launch a premium "Wuling Tusi Cultural Corridor" route. Xianfeng County is located in the heart of the Wuling Mountains, at the junction of the Hubei, Chongqing, Hunan, and Guizhou border regions. Over the past decade, leveraging the continued development potential of the Tangya Tusi City Site, Xianfeng County has gradually transformed from a "historical relic" into a "dynamic development zone," achieving comprehensive leaps in industrial structure, locational advantages, and people's well-being.
