Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) From June 22nd to 26th, 2026, a training course on the application of artificial intelligence in media between Vietnam and Laos was held in Vientiane, the capital of Vietnam. The Vietnamese delegation was led by Van Thi Quoc Mao, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Deputy Director of the Central Propaganda and Training Committee, and Dang Thi Phuong, Deputy Director of the Media Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam. The Lao delegation was chaired by Comrade Van Hikramu, and relevant officials, scholars, and representatives from central and local media organizations in Luang Prabang, Vientiane, Khammouane, Savannakhet, and Champasak provinces of Laos participated in the training. Core Consensus: Emphasis on Both Technological Empowerment and Value Upholding

At the opening ceremony, Comrade Van Hikramu emphasized the profound impact of technological change on the media industry. He pointed out: "Artificial intelligence may not replace journalists, but journalists who know how to skillfully utilize artificial intelligence will become the main force leading the development of media in the digital age." Both sides reiterated that no matter how advanced the technology, the core values of the media profession—accuracy, independent perspective, professional ethics, and political integrity—will always be the foundation of the industry.

In her speech, Ms. Dang Thi Phuong stated that the global media landscape is undergoing profound changes. The rapid development of digital technology, artificial intelligence, social media, and mobile devices is fundamentally altering how information is produced, disseminated, and received. She emphasized that journalists in the new era must not only possess traditional reporting and writing skills but also proactively embrace new technologies, master information retrieval techniques, effectively utilize AI tools, create diverse media content, and adapt to a multi-channel communication environment.
Ms. Dang Thi Phuong stressed that while artificial intelligence offers vast opportunities to improve work efficiency, assist content creation, analyze data, and simplify workflows, technology cannot replace the core role of media workers. The more we live in the digital age, the more important the core values of the media industry become—accuracy, perspective, social responsibility, professional ethics, and political integrity. She stated that this presents new demands on the media industries of Vietnam and Laos: they must continuously learn, transform their perspectives, improve their professional skills, and maintain technological advancement, while simultaneously upholding their identity as revolutionary media and their professional standards. Training Content and Arrangements

This training program combines theoretical learning with practical application, primarily covering three modules: Mobile Content Creation: Learning practical skills for quickly creating media content using mobile phones; AI Tool Application: Mastering creative applications of artificial intelligence, including practical techniques for creating AI assistants without programming; AI Ethics and Governance: Exploring the opportunities, risks, and ethical issues of using artificial intelligence to combat fake news.
