Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Vientiane, Laos, officially launched its Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, providing local residents with faster and more economical travel services. The system will be free to the public for the first two months of its trial operation.

The BRT aims to alleviate traffic congestion in Vientiane, reduce travel costs for residents, and provide a more efficient and reliable travel option compared to private cars. To encourage the use of the new public transport system, the Vientiane authorities have set the trial period from March 10th to May 9th, a period of two months, during which residents can ride for free.

The BRT buses operate in dedicated lanes, effectively avoiding congested areas and allowing commuters to quickly traverse the city, avoiding travel delays caused by traffic congestion. The bus service operates daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. During peak hours (7:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM), buses depart every 6 to 7 minutes; during off-peak hours, buses depart every 10 to 15 minutes, ensuring the stability and convenience of the service.

The newly opened BRT line starts at Dongdok station near the National University of Laos, passing through 19 stops before reaching Talat Sao, one of Vientiane's core business districts. Major stops along the route include the Southeast Asian Games dormitory, Sangkhoun, 450th Anniversary Road, Pha Khoon, SOS Children's Village, Kaysone Phomvihane Museum, ICTC Center, Phongkheng, Kethosay Monument, and Tha Phuc.

Local officials stated that the new BRT system not only significantly reduces travel time and commuting costs but also contributes to a cleaner urban environment by reducing vehicle emissions. This project is an important step in building an efficient public transportation system in Laos' capital, and the authorities are urging citizens to actively experience and use the service during the trial period.
