The Korean and Lao Red Cross Societies join hands to help upgrade primary schools in Laos, continuing the story of frien

  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – Youth volunteers from the Korean Red Cross visited Vang Vieng District, Vientiane Province, Laos, to assist in the renovation and upgrading of two local primary schools. This initiative aims to create a better learning environment for teachers and students and build a solid bridge for deepening the friendly relations between Korea and Laos.

  This assistance activity, led by youth volunteers from the Gwangju and Jeollanam-do Red Cross societies in South Korea, was conducted from January 26th to 31st, 2025, at Phaya Primary School and Nampo Primary School in Vang Vieng District. During the activity, Mr. Bunau Pachoompong, head of the Vientiane Red Cross, along with teachers and students from both schools, warmly welcomed the Korean volunteer team.

  The Korean Red Cross youth volunteers focused on improving school infrastructure, carrying out specialized upgrades and renovations to strengthen campus safety and improve student comfort. Specific projects included replacing school roofs, repairing damaged ceilings, and completely repainting the school buildings, comprehensively optimizing the school's hardware conditions.

  In addition to infrastructure upgrades, the volunteer team distributed teaching materials to students and conducted first-aid demonstrations for teachers and students, effectively contributing to the improvement of campus teaching and safety capabilities.

  Beyond the assistance, the two sides held cultural and artistic performances, promoting cultural exchange and enhancing mutual understanding through diverse forms. At the conclusion of the event, a traditional Lao ceremony was held to convey deep friendship and best wishes, bringing the event to a successful close.

  A representative of the Korean volunteers shared their experience: “This event was very rewarding. We not only gained a deeper understanding of Lao customs, culture, and cuisine, but also truly felt the friendliness and enthusiasm of the local teachers and students. This friendship is unforgettable.”

  It is reported that the total value of this aid project reached US$14,038, effectively improving the operating conditions of the two primary schools and further deepening the cooperation between the Lao Red Cross and the Korean Red Cross, injecting new vitality into the continued warming of friendly relations between the two countries.
