  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the first day of the 2026 May Day holiday, Tianjin's consumer market was in full swing. According to the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Commerce, the 471 key commercial and trade enterprises monitored by the bureau achieved sales of 320 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.7%; and customer traffic reached 2.161 million, a year-on-year increase of 7%.

  During the holiday, Tianjin launched more than 30 first-store, first-exhibition, and first-show events, 24 of which took place on the first day of the holiday. Shanshan Outlets launched its first "Hulu Coffee and Bread Festival," which boosted sales by more than double compared to a normal day; Five Avenues Park held its first Dessert Festival, introducing 50 distinctive tea and food brands; three first stores opened simultaneously at Jinlv Zu'an Space near Chifeng Bridge, and the "Zhongyuan 1926·Chao" century-old Western-style building commercial complex on Xinhua Road officially opened to the public. Tianjin Joy City introduced two IP pop-up exhibitions, with first-day customer traffic increasing by more than 20% year-on-year.

  Key commercial districts saw a simultaneous increase in both foot traffic and sales. The 57 monitored shopping malls achieved sales of 100 million yuan on the first day of the holiday, a year-on-year increase of 2.8%, with foot traffic reaching 1.567 million visits, a year-on-year increase of 4.4%. Longhu Meijiang Tianjie saw increases in both foot traffic and sales exceeding 30%, Lujiazui Center saw increases of 10.8% and 17.8% respectively, and Jinnan Wuyue Plaza saw increases of 14.8% and 25.9% respectively.

  The catering and accommodation markets were booming. The 245 monitored catering businesses saw a 31.8% year-on-year increase in revenue on the first day of the holiday. Hotels such as the Ritz-Carlton and Conrad saw revenue increases exceeding 20%, and budget hotels around the Five Avenues, Tianjin Eye, and Ancient Culture Street achieved occupancy rates exceeding 80%. Established brands such as Qishilin and Weidingxuan saw year-on-year revenue increases of 18% and 59% respectively. Tea brands in key monitored shopping malls saw an 11.2% year-on-year increase in revenue on the first day.

  Emotional consumption activities increased significantly. On the first day of the holiday, four anime conventions were held simultaneously at the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Tianjin) and Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center, marking the most concentrated large-scale anime and comics events in recent years. Hedong District created a "rock + skateboard" livehouse for a thousand people, Nankai District brought a Tibetan youth cultural tour to its commercial district, and cross-industry activities such as new energy vehicle brands collaborating with electronic music parties also injected new vitality into holiday consumption.
