Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On April 7, 2026, the Joint Information Center for the Thai-Cambodian Situation (JIC) led a media delegation to conduct an on-site investigation in Surin Province, Thailand. The delegation, consisting of 28 journalists from 15 foreign media outlets, and accompanied and assisted by Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials, gained an in-depth understanding of the situation in the conflict zone along the Thai-Cambodian border and received a special briefing on Thai military operations. The briefing clearly stated that Thailand's relevant military operations have consistently adhered strictly to international law and international humanitarian law, and have been carried out in accordance with laws and regulations throughout.

During the investigation, the delegation focused on visiting a former transnational fraud den in the Chong Thong border area of Surin Province, inspecting several buildings involved in the crimes. According to on-site reports, these buildings were not only used for illegal fraud activities for a long time, but were also illegally used by the Cambodian military as a military base – a clear violation of relevant international law, and the misuse of civilian facilities for military purposes constitutes a violation of international norms. Meanwhile, through on-site visits, journalists witnessed firsthand the large-scale and industrialized operation of this transnational criminal network. Its illegal activities not only pose a serious threat to global security but also cause enormous financial losses and infringements on the rights of people both within and outside the region.

It is understood that this is the second time JIC has organized an on-site investigation for foreign media in response to continued attention from various parties regarding the situation on the Thai-Cambodian border and anti-fraud operations. The core purpose of the activity is to provide international media with firsthand, evidence-based information, fully demonstrating Thailand's consistent transparency in related matters. This initiative not only demonstrates Thailand's firm determination to raise public awareness of anti-fraud and promote international cooperation in combating cross-border online fraud but also highlights its positive role in regional security governance.

The Thai side clearly stated that it expects Cambodia to provide sincere and pragmatic cooperation in combating such transnational criminal networks, enhancing mutual trust through deepening bilateral cooperation, jointly building a strong regional security barrier, and further enhancing international confidence in Southeast Asia as a safe and stable destination for investment and living.
