
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com), February 21, 2026 – A delegation led by Thai Deputy Foreign Minister Wijaya Isarapakdee, including members of the diplomatic corps, Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials, and their families, visited Surat Thani Province from February 19 to 21. On February 21, they attended a briefing and a series of special events at Wat Phra Phrom Mathapchaiya in Phrom Rang District and the Lempu Royal Memorial Park. The core purpose of the visit was to gain a deeper understanding of the effectiveness of the Royal Initiative projects, the country's development potential, and the building of national identity.
Mr. Prasot Lyanggon, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Ms. Ranee Itarat, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Mr. Vittasak Jumrunusit, Deputy Governor of Surat Thani Province, Mr. Chaiya District Chief Chayunla Rengrowwalalak, and other local government officials jointly received the delegation. Eight hundred traditional dancers from 14 provinces in southern Thailand added a rich cultural atmosphere to the event.

At Wat Phra Phrom Matthachaiya, the delegation participated in the historic shroud-wrapping ceremony, immersing themselves in the rich tapestry of Thai traditional culture. Following this, the delegation received a presentation on the site's history, architectural features, and archaeological discoveries, and visited the "One Place, One Product (OTOP)" exhibition showcasing Chaiya district's specialty products. These activities were jointly organized by the Thai Ministry of Culture and Chaiya District.

Afterwards, the delegation traveled to the Lemboo Royal Memorial Park in Phumleong district, participating in a series of eco-cultural activities meticulously organized by the Phumleong Community Ecotourism Group. During the "Crab Bank Project," the delegation participated in releasing blue crabs, directly experiencing Thailand's achievements in environmental protection and marine biodiversity conservation, highlighting its sustainable development philosophy. Furthermore, the delegation experienced Chaiya district's unique customs and lifestyle, including watching a Chaiya Muay Thai performance, participating in workshops on traditional Thai steamed eggs and Chaiya salted eggs, and purchasing local textiles from the Phumleong community.
