Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is upgrading the Sakon Nakhon Christmas Starlight Parade, a century-old tradition, into an international event under its "Thailand Iconic Events" program. The 2025 event will be held in Ta Rai City, Sakon Nakhon Province, from December 20th to 24th.
As a distinctive Christian celebration in northeastern Thailand, this century-old tradition, inspired by the guiding star of Jesus' birth, has become a symbol of cultural heritage and community identity. This upgrade retains the core essence while incorporating modern elements such as immersive lighting and drone performances, enhancing the visitor experience and bringing sustainable economic benefits to the local area.

Highlights of the 2025 event include: illuminated historical sites, AI photo spots, sustainable workshops, family-friendly snow experiences, a "Magical Thailand" themed stargazing vehicle, and interactive activities such as handicrafts. From December 20th to 23rd, the pedestrian street and Martino Pavilion will host cultural strolls, local specialty product exhibitions and food experiences during the day, followed by music performances and illuminated floats in the evening. The highlight will be the evening of the 23rd, with a star-studded float parade starting at 6:00 PM, followed by Christmas performances, a drone show, and other major highlights. On Christmas Eve, December 24th, the event will transition to a solemn and traditional format, with a procession circling St. Michael's Cathedral, followed by a Christmas Mass and a nativity scene.

This upgrade is an important initiative for Thailand to promote multiculturalism, echoing other famous festivals such as Songkran and Loy Krathong, showcasing Thailand's rich cultural landscape and unique community experiences to the international community.
