Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has clarified that travel and tourism activities throughout Thailand remain normal and unaffected. However, it has issued travel advice, reminding tourists that security measures have been comprehensively strengthened in seven provinces bordering Cambodia: Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket, Surin, Buriram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat.
Specifically, martial law has been implemented in the following areas: Bang Chang, Thamai, Maekhan, Limsin, Kheng Hang Muang, Na Aye An, and Khokhchakut in Chanthaburi; Hok Song, Ta Praya, Aranya Prat, and Khon Hath in Sa Kaeo; and Khon Aye, Bo Rai, Lin Aung, Khao Sam Ming, and the provincial capital area of Trat. In addition, a curfew will be implemented in four districts of Sa Kaeo Province from December 10, 2025 (until further notice), and in five districts of Trat Province from December 14, 2025 (until further notice), with curfew hours from 19:00 to 05:00 the following day, during which time activities within the relevant areas are restricted.
Regarding transportation, domestic and international transportation services nationwide, including air, rail, bus, and sea transport, are operating as usual; major tourist destinations such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi, Pattaya (Chonburi Province), and Ayutthaya are also receiving tourists normally. However, due to border control measures, temporary adjustments have been made to transportation in some areas: The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has adjusted the 275/276 and 279/280 ordinary trains to operate only between Bangkok (Hua Lamphong Station) and Aranyaprathet. Service to Ban Klongruk border checkpoint is suspended (until further notice). Passengers can call the SRT 24-hour hotline 1690 for inquiries. Bangkok Transport Company has temporarily closed the Kantarak Bus Terminal in Sisaket Province. Bus routes 98 (Bangkok to Ubon Ratchathani) and 4 (Bangkok to Kantarak to Venturi) originally scheduled to run to this terminal have been adjusted. Passengers traveling to and from Bangkok should use the Kanchan Road intersection as a temporary boarding and alighting point. For inquiries, please call 02-936-3660.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand specifically advises travelers to Nong Tin Thanh district in Buriram province to avoid using Highway 348 from Kaio Petipurai to Chonthauk. They should follow local guidance and choose alternative routes. Tourists are also advised to avoid all restricted areas and checkpoints along the Thai-Cambodian border (currently, entry and exit to these areas are suspended and under security controls). It should be clarified that these restrictions only apply to specific areas in the aforementioned seven provinces in eastern and northeastern Thailand; other areas operate normally under the supervision of local governments.
Details of border closures/restrictions in the affected provinces are as follows:
