
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced adjustments to the schedule and format of various events during October and November 2025 to express respect and gratitude for the benevolence of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. All adjustments are in line with the solemn atmosphere of the national mourning period.
Following the announcement of Queen Sirikit's passing by the Royal Household Bureau on October 24, 2025, the TAT reviewed all scheduled events for October and November, resulting in the postponement of some events, adjustments to their formats, and the replacement of some celebrations with cultural and religious ceremonies reflecting remembrance and respect.
The Sukhothai Loy Krathong Festival will proceed as scheduled from October 27 to November 5, 2025, at Wat Chanasongkham in the Sukhothai Historical Park. A lighting ceremony will be held each evening at 9:21 PM, where people will gather to remember and express gratitude to Queen Sirikit. During the festival, royal music, traditional Thai music, and cultural performances will be held to pay tribute to the Queen Mother. The lights and decorations have been meticulously arranged to create a solemn atmosphere. The Loy Krathong festival, through light shows, handicraft demonstrations, local cuisine tasting, and cultural performances, creates a nostalgic ambiance, showcasing Sukhothai's cultural heritage and inviting visitors to experience it in traditional attire.
From November 2nd to 6th, 2025, the Ayutthaya Loy Krathong festival will be held as scheduled at Wat Phra Ram in the Ayutthaya Historical Park, but the content and atmosphere will be adjusted according to the mourning period. Fireworks and pyrotechnics will be cancelled, replaced by cultural performances and royal music to commemorate King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Mother Sirikit. Visitors can also enjoy displays of Thai handicrafts, cuisine, and traditional activities in a nostalgic atmosphere, expressing remembrance and respect for the deceased.
The "Vijit Chao Phraya Thailand 2025" event, originally scheduled for November 1st to December 15th, has been rescheduled to November 9th to December 23rd, 2025, along the banks of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok. Themed "Light of Siam – Mother Earth," the event has been carefully redesigned, replacing fireworks with drone performances to express respect and remembrance. The lighting design and color scheme will also be softer to show reverence. In addition, a candlelight ceremony called "Light of the Nation" will be held on New Year's Eve to commemorate Her Majesty the Queen Mother of Thailand.
The Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok 2025 will be held on November 30th, 2025, starting at MBK Centre and finishing at Sanam Luang. The competition will proceed as planned, with appropriate adjustments made to reflect the atmosphere of the national mourning period.
