Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Bangkok correspondent reports: On August 22, the Thai Criminal Court acquitted former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra in a case involving allegations of "disrespect for the monarch" during an interview with a South Korean media outlet ten years ago.

According to the court's ruling, there was insufficient evidence to prove Thaksin's wrongdoing. The video submitted as evidence only contained excerpts of the interview, and the statements were limited.

Because the prosecution could not prove whether the video footage had been edited or modified, and because Thaksin's remarks in the video were not directed at the King, the Thai Criminal Court ultimately decided to acquit former Prime Minister Thaksin. (End)
