The meeting earnestly implemented the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and its subsequent plenary sessions, deeply studied and implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping's important thoughts on doing a good job in the Party's united front work in the new era and the spirit of his important speeches and instructions during his inspection of Shanxi, comprehensively implemented the spirit of the National United Front Work Department Meeting and the work requirements of the Provincial Party Committee, summarized the work of 2025, and deployed the tasks for 2026. Zhao Hongyan, member of the Standing Committee of the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
The meeting pointed out that in 2025, under the strong leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, the province's united front closely focused on the overall situation of transformation and development, enhanced consensus, strengthened services, and aggregated strength, continuously consolidated the common ideological and political foundation for unity and struggle, vigorously implemented the responsibility system for united front work, and promoted new progress and new achievements in the province's united front work.
The meeting emphasized that in 2026, the united front of the province should adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, focusing on two main lines: strengthening ideological and political guidance and uniting people's hearts and minds, and pooling strength for the overall transformation and development of the province. It should concentrate its efforts on advancing key and difficult tasks in the united front field, and promote high-quality development of the province's united front work through "ten key initiatives," contributing united front strength to achieving a good start to the province's "15th Five-Year Plan."
The meeting emphasized the need to strengthen ideological and political guidance as the primary responsibility, effectively using the Party's innovative theories to unite and inspire the people, guiding the entire united front in the province to further deeply understand the decisive significance of the "two establishments" and resolutely uphold the "two safeguards"; to proactively act in line with the province's transformation and development, accurately identifying entry points for united front work, and leveraging the advantages of the united front to pool wisdom and strength; to improve the construction of participating parties, supporting democratic parties and non-party figures to conduct in-depth research and provide precise suggestions, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of party consultation; to solidify the sense of community of the Chinese nation, ensuring the effective implementation of the "Law of the People's Republic of China on Promoting National Unity and Progress," and promoting exchanges, interactions, and integration among all ethnic groups; and to advance the Sinicization of religion in my country, improving the rule of law in religious affairs governance, and deeply promoting the "study of laws and regulations, adherence to precepts, emphasis on self-cultivation, and establishment of positive role models" within the religious community. The meeting emphasized the need to promote education activities to guide religion towards adaptation to socialist society; to focus on uniting the wisdom and strength of non-Party intellectuals, new social strata, and private entrepreneurs; to optimize and strengthen various platforms and carriers; to effectively implement the "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Promotion of Private Economy"; to widely stimulate the vitality of concerted efforts; to focus on gathering forces from home and abroad; to explore the creation of "Roots, Soul, and Dreams" education bases; to implement cultural immersion projects to win hearts and minds; to focus on improving systems and mechanisms; to continuously enhance the effectiveness of the overall united front work structure by focusing on implementing the regulations on the responsibility system for united front work; to focus on promoting the operation of the three-level network and the two-level responsibility system; to consolidate the grassroots foundation of united front work; and to firmly safeguard the security position in the united front field. The meeting also stressed the need to strengthen the construction of the team of non-Party representatives; to improve the selection, training, management, and utilization mechanisms for non-Party representatives; and to consolidate the talent support for the united front cause.
The meeting required that united front departments at all levels firmly grasp the historical position and important mission of the patriotic united front in the new era, build a strong united front cadre team, establish and practice a correct view of performance, be pragmatic, responsible, and self-disciplined, and continuously create a new situation in the province's united front work.
The meeting announced the decision to commend advanced collectives and individuals in Shanxi Province's united front work. Representatives from Yangquan City, Changzhi City, Jincheng City, the Provincial Party Committee's Working Committee, Taiyuan University of Technology, and other units, along with commended representatives, delivered speeches.
