Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Fifth Session of the 14th Shanxi Provincial People's Congress opened on February 2nd. In his government work report, Shanxi Governor Lu Dongliang stated that by 2025, Shanxi's raw coal production from enterprises above designated size will reach 1.305 billion tons, an increase of 2.1%. The installed capacity of new energy and clean energy will reach 90.48 million kilowatts, accounting for 55.1%, exceeding coal-fired power for the first time.

The government work report pointed out that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Shanxi will accelerate the green transformation of its energy system while ensuring national energy security. Over the five years, it will produce a cumulative total of 6.5 billion tons of raw coal, accounting for nearly 30% of the national total; Shanxi's electricity transmission network will cover 24 provinces, ranking among the top in the country; the number of intelligent coal mines will reach 400, and the proportion of advanced coal production capacity will increase to 84%; the cumulative production of unconventional natural gas over the five years will reach 75 billion cubic meters, making Shanxi a net exporter of natural gas.

Looking ahead to the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Shanxi has set clear quantitative targets: striving to add 100 million kilowatts of renewable energy installed capacity, and achieving an annual unconventional natural gas production of 30 billion cubic meters by 2030. It also aims to become a source of energy technology innovation and a base for the transformation of research results.

By 2026, Shanxi will accelerate its energy transformation: coal production will be stabilized at around 1.3 billion tons, with 60 new intelligent coal mines to be built; efforts will be made to complete and put into operation a new energy base in the northern Shanxi coal mining subsidence area, with a planned wind and solar power installed capacity of 30 million kilowatts and 20 million kilowatts connected to the grid; and unconventional natural gas production will exceed 20 billion cubic meters.

Furthermore, Shanxi will also promote demonstration projects and large-scale applications in several cutting-edge fields, including new energy storage, modern coal chemical industry, green electricity industrial parks, and carbon capture, utilization, and storage. (End)
