Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com), February 25th - The Shanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism disclosed that the province's cultural and tourism market performed exceptionally well during the 2026 Spring Festival holiday: It received 35.2636 million domestic tourists (a year-on-year increase of 10.45%), generating total tourism expenditure of 40.892 billion yuan (a year-on-year increase of 14.5%); 80 key monitored scenic spots received 11.0668 million visitors (a year-on-year increase of 33.83%), with ticket revenue reaching 274 million yuan (a year-on-year increase of 38.83%).
During the Spring Festival, Shanxi launched over 100 intangible cultural heritage and folk custom experience activities centered on "Celebrating the New Year with Intangible Cultural Heritage." Four themed routes incorporating elements of the Year of the Horse were also released. Various regions promoted the deep integration of traditional culture and the Spring Festival atmosphere through intangible cultural heritage performances, folk temple fairs, folk firework displays, and handicraft experiences. Taiyuan, Xinzhou, Jinzhong, and Lüliang focused on showcasing handicrafts and folk performances, while Jincheng developed unique New Year customs for each county. Yangquan incorporated trendy elements like electronic music and NPC interactions to meet diverse needs.
"Ice and Snow +" became a consumer hotspot, with the province launching 49 ice and snow tourism routes, over 100 products, and more than 500 themed activities. Jinzhong, Shuozhou, and Datong improved ski resorts, organized ice and snow competitions, and launched "ice and snow + study tours," linking these with hot spring health and wellness and ancient village culture to enrich the quality of vacation options.
Nighttime cultural tourism offerings continued to upgrade. Taiyuan Ancient City, Datong Ancient Capital, Yuncheng Jiangzhou Ancient City, and Jincheng Longma Lake, among other places, used themed lantern festivals as their core, incorporating 3D light shows, technological lanterns, and NPC interactions to illuminate the Spring Festival "night economy" and attract a large number of tourists.
In terms of service guarantees, many places in Shanxi have launched measures such as free parking, special cultural and tourism bus routes, ticket discounts, and extended opening hours for scenic spots. Yuncheng has opened a 24-hour hotline for cultural and tourism consultation and complaints. Six cities in Shanxi, Henan, and Shandong provinces have jointly launched a policy of mutual exemption of tickets for nearly 200 scenic spots, covering the Spring Festival and Lantern Festival, realizing cross-provincial sharing of cultural and tourism resources.
