It is understood that there are over 2 million students enrolled in Sichuan's universities, and Red Cross youth are a vital force in promoting the high-quality development of the Red Cross cause in Sichuan. In 2021, the Sichuan Provincial Red Cross Society, in conjunction with the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education, formulated the "Implementation Opinions on Implementing the Spirit of the 'Notice of the General Association of the Red Cross Society of China and the Ministry of Education on Further Strengthening and Improving the Red Cross Work in Schools in the New Era'," and simultaneously established the "Sichuan Provincial School Red Cross Work Committee." The provincial and municipal school Red Cross Work Committees in Sichuan have established a joint meeting and liaison officer system, regularly organizing meetings to study and discuss key tasks and coordinate solutions to practical difficulties. Under the committee's planning, school Red Cross work has formed a positive momentum of long-term development with planned objectives, short-term work with distinctive practical explorations, and a guaranteed reserve of talent. Currently, there are over 2,000 schools in Sichuan with Red Cross societies, and over 800,000 youth members.
According to reports, in October 2023, the Sichuan Provincial Red Cross Society, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education, and the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League jointly convened the "Sichuan Provincial University Red Cross Work Exchange Meeting." In the same year, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education and the Sichuan Provincial Red Cross Society jointly formulated the "Notice on Further Strengthening the Red Cross Work in Universities in the New Era."
For many years, the Sichuan Provincial Red Cross Society has provided project support to help university Red Cross societies comprehensively improve their capabilities in multiple dimensions, including organizational development, system construction and management, publicity and education, first aid training, and activity implementation. Simultaneously, it has helped university Red Cross societies broaden their activities, encouraging them to actively participate in grassroots governance beyond the campus. Life education and health science popularization are widely carried out on campuses, emergency first aid training is incorporated into the health education system, first aid knowledge is promoted in military training and classrooms, and on-campus teachers are encouraged to become certified first aiders. In addition, the Sichuan Provincial Red Cross Youth Network has been established, a university student Red Cross emergency first aid skills competition has been held, and the Chengdu-Chongqing Red Cross Youth Summer Camp has been jointly organized with the Chongqing Municipal Red Cross Society.
