Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – A chemical company in Linyi City, Shandong Province, China, recently issued a notice requiring single employees aged 28 to 58 to get married and start families within a specified period, or face dismissal, sparking online discussion.

According to reports from Chinese media, the chemical company issued a notice in January stating that it promotes a culture of "diligence, virtue, loyalty, filial piety, benevolence, and righteousness." The notice argued that employees should perform their duties well and start families as a form of filial piety, therefore requiring single employees aged 28 to 58 to get married, start families, have children, contribute to the nation, and serve society within a specified timeframe.

The chemical company stated that single employees are required to resolve their marital issues by September 30, 2025. Failure to do so within one quarter will require a written self-criticism; failure within two quarters will result in performance evaluation; and failure to marry and start a family within three quarters will lead to termination of employment.

Furthermore, the announcement listed that not marrying and having children, disobeying parents, not finding a partner, and ignoring colleagues' advice were considered "disloyal, unfilial, unkind, and unjust" behaviors.

This announcement sparked heated discussion online, with many netizens condemning it, calling it "a new excuse for layoffs," "who does this company think it is? They're insane," "Where did this domineering CEO come from? Where did this violation of labor laws come from?" "Not getting married is disloyal, unfilial, unkind, and unjust," "Those who were forbidden to date in school and those who were pressured to get married at work are from the same generation," and "It's a job to support yourself, not something I sold to you."
