Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) On the morning of April 14, 2026, the Hanoi Municipal Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front officially launched the 2026 Marine and Island Fund fundraising campaign. The aim is to unite the strength of all sectors of society to continuously support the improvement of people's livelihoods, infrastructure construction, and sovereignty defense related to marine and island areas, demonstrating the firm support of the people of the capital for the development of marine and island areas.

At the launch ceremony, Bui Huen Mai, Chairman of the Hanoi Municipal Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, stated that in recent years, Hanoi has consistently attached great importance to the development of marine and island areas, forming a multi-participation model of "publicity and mobilization + on-site visits + project support." The city has repeatedly organized working delegations to visit and comfort the military and civilians stationed in various sea areas and islands, effectively conveying the warmth of the capital. According to her, since 2016, the Hanoi Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Government, and all citizens have donated over 430 billion VND to the fund, with donations reaching 76 billion VND in 2025 alone. These funds have been implemented in several key projects with long-term value, including the construction of a comprehensive facility integrating a community cultural center and a public hall on Đá Lát Reef in the Spratly Islands, as well as a series of livelihood projects to improve the living conditions of the military and civilians stationed on the islands. Simultaneously, they provide continuous material support and spiritual encouragement to the military and civilians stationed on the islands, further strengthening their belief and determination to defend the nation's maritime and island sovereignty.

It is reported that, as a supporting activity of the 2026 fund, Hanoi will form a special working group of 85 representatives from the end of April to the beginning of May. Members will include representatives from various departments, local units, the armed forces, enterprises, and people from all walks of life in the capital. This group will travel to the Spratly Islands and DK-I stilt houses to conduct special visits to and express their appreciation to the military and civilians stationed there, deepening the emotional connection between the capital and the islands.

At the launch ceremony, the Hanoi Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front received registered donations from 115 collectives, organizations, and individuals, totaling 28 billion VND. Donations for this campaign will be accepted until May 31, 2026. Members of the public can participate through officially designated channels to contribute to the development of Vietnam's marine and island industries. (End)
