
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the 8th, the "Academic Symposium on Paleolithic Archaeology in the Heilongjiang River Basin (Daxinganling Region)," hosted by the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism (Heilongjiang Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics) and organized by the School of Archaeology and Museology of Liaoning University, the Daxinganling Regional Bureau of Culture and Tourism, and the Tahe County People's Government, was held in Tahe County, Daxinganling. Reporters learned at the meeting that the recent archaeological survey and exploration work in the basin has uncovered more than 80 new Paleolithic sites in the Daxinganling region, expanding our understanding of the distribution and connotation of prehistoric cultural remains in the region and providing crucial scientific evidence for constructing the Paleolithic cultural sequence of Northeast China.
At the meeting, renowned experts and scholars from both inside and outside Heilongjiang Province, including Professors Chen Quanjia and Wang Chunxue from Jilin University, Professor Duan Guangda from Heilongjiang University, and Professor Yi Mingjie from Renmin University of China, along with heads of relevant units, jointly discussed new archaeological discoveries and research progress in the Paleolithic period of the Heilongjiang River Basin. They systematically summarized the phased achievements of archaeological exploration of Paleolithic sites in the Heilongjiang River Basin (Daxinganling region) and the archaeological exploration of sites No. 1, 2, and 4 at Shibazhan.
The meeting emphasized that local Party committees, governments, and cultural heritage departments should further clarify their responsibilities and strengthen coordination; cultural heritage protection work should focus on multidisciplinary integration and application, deepening archaeological research and value interpretation; and that archaeological protection should promote the deep integration of culture and tourism, incorporating it into the "15th Five-Year Plan."
During the meeting, relevant leaders from Liaoning University summarized and reported on the overall implementation of the project. Participating experts and scholars gave special reports on topics such as the historical value and academic research significance of the Daxinganling region, the progress of the Paleolithic "Archaeological China" project in the Changbai Mountain region, and the sharing of achievements in the visualization of cultural heritage in the digital age. Participants viewed representative stone artifacts and animal fossils discovered during the survey and exploration, and engaged in in-depth discussions on the Paleolithic cultural sequence, technological lineage, and future research directions in the Greater Khingan Mountains region.
This conference marks a new stage in Paleolithic archaeological research in the Heilongjiang River Basin (Greater Khingan Mountains region), laying the foundation for subsequent cultural heritage protection, academic research, and the integrated development of culture and tourism. (End)
