The festival showcases the achievements of industrial development, deepens industry-academia-research cooperation and international exchanges, and tells the story of Yunnan's "good mountains, good water, and good medicinal herbs" from multiple levels and perspectives.
Wenshan Prefecture, located in the southeastern part of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and bordering Vietnam, is the origin, main production area, and authentic producing region of Panax Notoginseng, and is known as the "Hometown of Panax Notoginseng in China."
"Wenshan Panax Notoginseng is not just a medicine or an industry, but also a culture and a way of life," said Ma Zhongjun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Wenshan Prefecture Committee and Governor of the Wenshan Prefecture People's Government, in his speech. He added that in recent years, the prefecture has made continuous efforts in ensuring land use for Panax Notoginseng cultivation, cultivating and protecting germplasm resources, constructing production warehouses, and standardizing the use of three standards (standards, specifications, and quality control), and has built the world's largest, most standardized, and highest-quality Panax Notoginseng raw material supply base and the most complete quality standard system. Currently, over 90% of raw Panax notoginseng is sold globally through the Wenshan market, and its products are exported to more than 40 countries and regions, including Vietnam and Singapore.
Yan Ling, Deputy Head of the Yunnan Provincial Special Working Group for the Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine, stated that Wenshan, as a world-renowned producer of authentic Panax notoginseng, should focus on building itself into a world-class "Panax notoginseng capital" and a trillion-yuan industry. This requires deepening scientific research, cultivating leading enterprises, establishing exemplary models, improving the quality of Panax notoginseng, and making the Panax notoginseng industry a sunrise and pillar industry for Wenshan.
The opening ceremony included a signing ceremony for cooperation projects on the development of new quality productivity for Panax notoginseng. The Wenshan Prefecture and City governments signed five key projects with several universities and enterprises, covering multiple areas such as industry-university-research cooperation, industrial innovation, and the construction of production base warehouses, injecting new momentum into the development of the entire Panax notoginseng industry chain.
The opening ceremony gala that evening blended art and technology, vividly showcasing the unique charm of Panax notoginseng culture. Wenshan Prefecture's first digital virtual spokesperson, "Panax notoginseng Girl," made a stunning appearance, digitally representing the innovative transformation of Panax notoginseng from a traditional medicinal material to a modern technology. A series of performances, including the situational dance drama "Yunling Divine Herb," the Vietnamese dance "Playing with the Moon," and a drone fireworks show, showcased Wenshan's rich cultural heritage and contemporary vitality.
On the same day, the Wenshan Panax notoginseng new quality productivity full-industry chain launch event was held simultaneously. The nation's first authentic medicinal herb single-variety (Wenshan Panax notoginseng) origin warehouse was officially inaugurated, the nation's first Wenshan Panax notoginseng GAP medicinal herb internet trading center was launched, the nation's first sky-ground network monitoring platform Wenshan Panax notoginseng service station was initiated, and the nation's first Wenshan Panax notoginseng digital museum was unveiled.
