  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On February 27, a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Myanmar and Lao Friendship Associations was held at the Jasmine Hotel in Naypyidaw. U Win Maung, Chairman of the Myanmar-Laos Friendship Association, and Chanthavong Seneeamathimongti signed the memorandum on behalf of their respective sides, marking a substantial step forward in people-to-people cooperation between the two countries. Prior to this, the two sides held talks and in-depth consultations in Vientiane, laying the foundation for the signing of the memorandum.

  According to the memorandum, the two sides reviewed the progress of cooperation in areas such as electricity distribution, Buddhist teacher exchanges, trade facilitation, and the resolution of double taxation on goods transiting through Laos, and clarified that they will continue to support each other in areas that meet their respective development needs. The Lao side also put forward three specific cooperation proposals: advancing the transmission line and cable laying project with Chinese support, and holding a China-Laos friendship football match in Thachlek.

  On the same day, Myanmar Foreign Minister U Than Shwe met with the Lao delegation in Naypyidaw. According to Myanmar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both sides exchanged in-depth views on core areas such as trade, investment, energy, religious affairs, culture, tourism, and labor cooperation, and agreed to further promote people-to-people exchanges and push bilateral relations to a deeper level.
