
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Myanmar government is systematically repatriating its citizens who were involved in online scams and gambling activities in Cambodia for various reasons. These citizens have either surrendered to the Myanmar Embassy in Cambodia or been handed over by Cambodian police and relevant departments. Yesterday, the third batch of 163 Myanmar citizens temporarily residing at the Myanmar Embassy in Cambodia successfully returned to Myanmar aboard a military aircraft.
To date, a total of 729 Myanmar citizens have been repatriated from Cambodia. The first batch of 136 citizens arrived at Mandalay International Airport on January 23rd aboard a Myanmar International Airlines (MAI) flight; the second batch of 430 citizens arrived at Mandalay International Airport and Dawei Township, Tanintharyi Region on January 25th via MAI flights and Tatmadaw aircraft; the third batch of 163 citizens arrived yesterday aboard a Tatmadaw aircraft.
Myanmar citizens arriving in Dawei Township yesterday were warmly welcomed by Major General Kyaw Kyaw Han, Commander of the Coastal Region Command, as well as officials and representatives from various levels of Dawei Township and related departments.
Relevant departments stated that they will continue to collect necessary personal information and files of Myanmar citizens returning from Cambodia, conduct necessary verifications, and complete all relevant procedures. At the same time, they will continue to intensify their efforts to repatriate all Myanmar citizens stranded in Cambodia as soon as possible.
The Myanmar government attaches great importance to its national responsibility to combat online fraud and online gambling, recognizing that such illegal and criminal activities pose a serious threat to the international community. Currently, the Myanmar government is actively cooperating with neighboring countries, regional countries, and international organizations to identify, arrest, and severely punish, according to law, those operating online fraud centers and the foreign nationals associated with them. In addition, the Myanmar government is investigating foreigners entering the country for various reasons, and, while fully considering humanitarian concerns and the friendly relations between the two countries, repatriating foreigners suspected of illegal and criminal activities to their home countries.
