Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has officially announced its support for the 2026 Bangkok Art Biennale. Through collaboration with the Venice Spirit of the Sea Festival, TAT aims to deepen Thailand's creative tourism strategy, help Bangkok solidify its status as a "global art destination" and "design capital," and attract high-end international tourists seeking high-quality cultural experiences.

TAT Governor Thapane Kitapapur stated that supporting the Bangkok Art Biennale is a key initiative for TAT to deeply integrate cultural creativity with Thai characteristics. It aims to create new travel inspiration for global tourists, further enhance Bangkok's international reputation, and continuously strengthen the image of "Amazing Thailand" as a high-quality tourist destination combining cultural heritage and creative vitality. This collaboration also aligns with TAT's "value over quantity" tourism development strategy, helping Bangkok showcase the unique charm of Thai and ASEAN contemporary art to the world after being named "Asia's Best City 2026" and a UNESCO "Design Capital." As a parallel exhibition to the 61st Venice Biennale, "Spiritual Crossing at Sea 2026," organized by the Bangkok Art Biennale, will be held from May 9 to August 2, 2026 at the Palazzo Roca Contarini on the island of Corfu, Venice, Italy. Curated by Professor Dr. Apinan Bošyananda, the exhibition brings together works by 20 artists from Southeast Asia, Ireland, Serbia, and other regions. Through diverse forms such as performance, film, installation, painting, and sculpture, it explores profound themes such as identity, displacement, the transmission of memory, and spiritual resilience in the context of migration and global change. The exhibition includes several new collaborative works and a specially commissioned short film.

Following the Venice exhibition, the Bangkok Art Biennale 2026 will be held in Thailand from October 29, 2026 to February 28, 2027. Held biennially since 2018, the fifth edition, themed "Angels and Demons," will connect several iconic venues, including the Siam Museum, Wat Arun, Wat Phra Chetthup, and the Bangkok Arts and Culture Centre, creating a city-wide exhibition route linking historical sites, riverside communities, modern commercial districts, and urban life. The exhibition will showcase outstanding works by Thai and international artists.

To expand the event's influence, the Tourism Authority of Thailand will leverage its core brand "Amazing Thailand" to promote the event through various channels, including special editorial content, social media stories of international artists, and a comprehensive domestic and international media campaign. This will foster a deep integration of the exhibition venues with the tourist destination experience, inviting global travelers to explore new cultural perspectives of Thailand through contemporary art and build a profound emotional connection with the country.
