  According to statistics from the Ayeyarwady Region Hotel and Tourism Department, during the six-day National Day and Spring Festival holiday from February 12th to 17th, major beach resorts and tourist attractions in the region received a total of 66,996 domestic and international tourists, demonstrating a strong recovery momentum in the tourism industry.

  During the holiday, core tourist destinations in the Ayeyarwady Region experienced a surge in visitors: Ngawang Vesang Beach received 28,173 local tourists and 907 foreign tourists; Chanda Beach welcomed 30,555 local tourists and 115 foreign tourists; Shwe Thanhyan Beach received 919 local tourists and 82 foreign tourists; Kaw Yang Kyi Beach received 5,947 local tourists; and famous attractions in Pathein Township received 5,947 local tourists and 68 foreign tourists. Foreign tourists mainly came from China, Russia, India, South Korea, and Thailand. Notably, compared to the 22,773 tourists during the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday, the number of tourists during this year's National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays has seen a significant increase. Data shows that the Ayeyarwady Region received 1,521,619 domestic and international tourists in 2025, and the number of tourists continued to climb at the beginning of 2026. Tourism service providers and hotel operators expect that the number of tourists at beaches during the upcoming Myanmar New Year Water Festival is expected to reach a new high compared to last year.

  Aung Thu Oo, Director of the Ayeyarwady Region Tourism Department, stated that the continuous improvement of the transportation system is a crucial support for the rapid development of the local tourism industry. "The regional government is constantly strengthening the construction and supervision of transportation connections, allowing tourists to quickly reach their destinations and enjoy a comfortable and peaceful holiday." He pointed out that the booming development of beach tourism has not only driven the prosperity of related industries and created considerable economic income, but has also effectively improved the socio-economic lives of local residents. "Travel is beneficial to both physical and mental health, and we warmly welcome tourists to come and relax during their subsequent holidays."

  Currently, the Ayeyarwady Region boasts well-developed tourist accommodation facilities: Ngwesan Beach has 38 hotels and 66 municipal guesthouses; Chanda Beach has 32 hotels and guesthouses and 60 municipal guesthouses; Shwe Thanhyan Beach has 6 hotels and guesthouses; and Pathein District has 23 hotels and guesthouses and 68 municipal guesthouses, fully meeting the accommodation needs of different tourists.
