According to statistics and forecasts, Hanoi is projected to receive over 33.7 million tourists in 2025, representing a year-on-year increase of 20.87%. International tourists are expected to exceed 7.82 million, a year-on-year increase of 22.76%, accounting for approximately 37% of Vietnam's total international tourist arrivals; domestic tourists are projected to reach 25.88 million, a year-on-year increase of 20.32%. Total tourism revenue is also expected to rise, exceeding VND 134.46 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 21.5%.

Tran Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Tourism Department, stated that the local tourism industry has set even higher goals for 2026: striving to receive over 35.8 million tourists, including over 8.6 million international tourists, and to surpass VND 160 trillion in total tourism revenue. To achieve this goal, Hanoi has prioritized regional collaboration as a core development strategy to expand tourism development space, enrich tourist experiences, and enhance the destination's core competitiveness.

In its future tourism development strategy, Hanoi will fully leverage its role as a regional tourism hub, focusing on connecting three major tourism axes and triangles: Hanoi-Quang Ninh-Ninh Binh, Hanoi-Lao Cai-Tuyen Quang, and Hanoi-Bac Ninh-Hung Yen. Simultaneously, Hanoi will further expand its cooperation, deepening tourism collaboration with the northern region, the northern coastal area, and the central-Central Highlands and southwestern provinces and cities.

At the forum "Implementing Solutions to Attract International Tourists" held on the morning of December 17th, Ha Van Chhao, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, emphasized that Hanoi needs to develop more pragmatic tourism collaborations with major cities such as Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as surrounding areas. He pointed out that tourism collaborations should not be limited to the superficial form of cooperation agreements, but should be translated into concrete joint projects, distinctive tourism products, and themed activities, while attracting deep participation from travel agencies and investors. Only by creating attractive connecting tour routes and strengthening joint promotion, tourist exchange, and coordinated human resource development can the overall strength of Vietnam's tourism industry be consolidated.

In recent years, Hanoi has proactively launched several tourism promotion and cooperation programs, working with provinces across the country to promote regional tourism development and cultivate new growth momentum for the capital's tourism industry. Notably, in early November this year, Hanoi, together with southwestern provinces, jointly held tourism promotion and cooperation activities in Vinh Long and Dong Thap provinces, fully demonstrating the determination of various regions to strengthen cooperation and jointly promote the prosperity of the national tourism industry.

Meanwhile, Hanoi continues to deepen tourism cooperation with the Northwest and Central Highlands regions, focusing on enriching tourism product offerings and extending tourists' stays. Recently, Hanoi organized a tour of the Hanoi-Lai Chau tourism route, attracting active participation from several well-known inbound tourism enterprises in the capital.

At the forum on December 17, Hanoi also signed memorandums of understanding on inbound tourism route cooperation with Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Ninh Binh, Lao Cai, and Tuyen Quang provinces.

In summary, the tourism linkage strategy is opening up new development opportunities for Hanoi and its surrounding cooperative regions, helping tourism become a crucial engine driving the economic growth of the capital and even the overall tourism industry of Vietnam. (End)
