Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – To further deepen tourism cooperation and jointly explore international markets, Cambodia and Laos successfully held the Second Cambodia-Laos Tourism Ministers' Meeting on December 15th.
A 45-member high-level inter-ministerial delegation from Cambodia, led by Cambodian Minister of Tourism Hua Ha, and a high-level delegation from Laos, led by Lao Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Darany Phommavongsa, jointly attended the meeting at the Sokha Hotel in Phnom Penh.
The meeting heard and carefully reviewed the implementation results of previous action plans and the outcome report of the Fourth Cambodia-Laos Joint Working Group Meeting on Tourism.
After in-depth discussions and exchanges of views, both sides jointly reviewed and adopted the "Minutes of the Second Cambodia-Laos Tourism Ministers' Meeting" and approved the revised "Cambodia-Laos Joint Action Plan for Tourism Cooperation 2025-2026".
The "2025-2026 Joint Action Plan" and the existing "Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation" will serve as important mechanisms for bilateral cooperation to strengthen tourism cooperation between Cambodia and Laos. Specific cooperation measures include: providing convenience for domestic and international travelers from both countries; jointly training tourism professionals; jointly conducting tourism marketing, particularly creating and promoting the "Two Countries, One Destination" initiative; and jointly developing distinctive tourism products, focusing on cultural heritage tourism, culinary tourism, community tourism, and ecotourism.
Both sides firmly believe that the joint implementation of the above cooperation mechanisms will effectively promote a significant increase in tourist arrivals to Cambodia and Laos.
This initiative is of great significance for consolidating the solidarity and friendship between the two countries and their people, and for promoting comprehensive cooperation. It will also strongly drive economic growth, improve people's livelihoods, and ultimately realize the shared vision of "Two Countries, One Destination."
