After docking, the Westerdam cruise ship visited many famous attractions, including Ha Long Bay, the Yen Tu scenic area, and a city tour of Ha Long City. Some groups also traveled to Hanoi and Vinh Bao in Haiphong to explore representative cultural and historical sites in the northern plains.
Both the Westerdam and Star Voyager are frequent visitors to the Ha Long International Cruise Terminal. The Star Voyager has already called the port four times by 2025, while the Westerdam is making its first port call in 2025, having previously visited twice in 2024. The selection of Ha Long as a port of call by major international cruise lines demonstrates the growing appeal of this World Heritage city on the international high-end maritime tourism map.
As of the end of October 2025, Ha Long International Cruise Port had received 44 international cruise ships, with a passenger volume of 56,647, representing a 9% year-on-year increase. Tourists mainly came from Europe, the Americas, and China, indicating a strong recovery in the high-end tourism market.
Pham Van Hiep, Director of the Ha Long International Cruise Port Authority, stated that the continuous arrival of several international mega-cruise ships fully demonstrates the vitality of Vietnam's international maritime tourism market. Ha Long is making a strong comeback on the regional tourism map, consolidating its position as a gateway connecting the world with Vietnam's cultural heritage. The port will continue to work closely with cruise lines and international travel partners to expand routes and enrich product offerings, providing every visitor to Ha Long with a unique experience full of Vietnamese characteristics.
In the remaining two months of 2025, Quang Ninh province aims to attract approximately 2.77 million tourists, generating a total tourism revenue of VND 8.638 trillion (approximately RMB 2.34 billion), thus achieving its annual target of 21.2 million tourists and VND 58 trillion (approximately RMB 15.7 billion).
As Vietnam's first international passenger port specifically designed for large cruise ships, Ha Long International Passenger Port can simultaneously accommodate two cruise ships with a gross tonnage exceeding 200,000 tons. Equipped with modern infrastructure and operating procedures that meet international standards, it provides tourists with an extremely convenient and safe experience. (End)
