
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – During the 26th session of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) General Assembly in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Cambodia and Myanmar agreed to deepen and strengthen tourism cooperation to jointly promote tourist growth.
Cambodian Minister of Tourism, Hua Ha, and Myanmar Deputy Minister of Hotels and Tourism, Phyo Saw Soe, held productive bilateral talks on the sidelines of the conference.

During the exchange, both sides agreed to actively deepen and expand tourism cooperation to promote the growth of tourists between their respective countries and internationally. This includes strengthening synergy and project implementation in the tourism sector within important regional and sub-regional frameworks such as ASEAN, the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), the Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam Cooperation Mechanism (CLMV), and the Ayeyarwady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS). Both sides pledged to jointly organize and participate in tourism promotion activities to enhance the attractiveness of their countries as joint tourist destinations. They will also explore the possibility of establishing direct flights between major cities and popular tourist destinations in Cambodia and Myanmar to facilitate travel and provide convenient transportation connections for tourists.

This meeting marks an important step forward in tourism cooperation between Cambodia and Myanmar, and is expected to enhance the vitality and international competitiveness of the tourism industry in both countries through the synergy of multilateral and bilateral mechanisms.
