Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – A Hanoi Tourism Department official stated that with the arrival of the peak tourist season in November, the capital's tourism industry has entered a crucial stage for the year. Hanoi will launch a series of distinctive tourism products and cultural festivals to attract more domestic and international tourists and strive to achieve its annual targets.
According to statistics, in the first 10 months of this year, Hanoi received over 28.2 million tourists, completing 91% of the annual plan, exceeding the total number of tourists for the entire year of 2024. This achievement is attributed to Hanoi's continued efforts in diversifying tourism products and expanding suburban tourism routes, effectively enhancing its attractiveness to international tourists, extending their stay, and increasing tourism spending.
Multiple Measures to Enhance Tourist Retention
The latest data from the Hanoi Tourism Department shows that in October alone, Hanoi received 2.27 million tourists, including approximately 695,000 foreign tourists, a 17.8% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Total tourism revenue for the month was approximately VND 9.93 trillion, an increase of 11.9% year-on-year.
In the first 10 months of the year, Hanoi received 28.22 million tourists, including 6.17 million foreign visitors. Total tourism revenue is estimated at nearly VND 110 trillion, representing year-on-year increases of 22% and 20%, respectively.
Tourism experts point out that the national-level "A80 event" and continuous innovation in tourism products are key factors in attracting tourists to Hanoi. Previously, many foreign tourists viewed Hanoi merely as a transit point to Ha Long Bay, Sapa, or Da Nang. Now, with the expansion of suburban tourism routes and the introduction of nighttime tours such as the Thang Long Imperial City and Hoa Lo Prison, Hanoi is gradually becoming a major destination for tourists willing to explore in depth.
Travel agencies have played a crucial role in attracting tourists and connecting with the market. As of mid-October, Hanoi had 2,687 travel agencies, including 2,101 international travel agencies, employing over 9,500 tour guides, injecting continuous vitality into the capital's tourism ecosystem.
Meanwhile, the Hanoi Department of Tourism is actively advancing several foundational initiatives, including updating accommodation data, promoting the "Vietnamese People Prioritize Vietnamese Goods" campaign in the tourism sector, refining the 2026 tourism development plan, and proposing to bid for the 2026 National Tourism Year.
By 2025, Hanoi aims to receive 31 million tourists, including 7.5 million foreign tourists, accounting for approximately 30% of the national target of 25 million foreign tourists; the annual tourism revenue target is VND 130 trillion.
In recent years, Hanoi's tourism industry has gradually shifted from scale expansion to in-depth development. Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, stated that in October, the department launched a nighttime tourism experience at Soc Son Temple and is developing a community tourism model integrating ethnic minority traditional culture in An Xuan Commune. These new products are expected to become new highlights in attracting tourists and boosting consumption.
Hanoi is also strengthening its collaboration with southwestern provinces through the "2025 Tourism Promotion and Cooperation Development Plan," further consolidating its position as a national tourism hub. To enhance community tourism development capabilities, the Tourism Department organized a series of training sessions in community tourism sites such as Mang Co Village in My Duc District, helping local residents become the main drivers of tourism development.
The Hanoi World Culture Festival held in October attracted over one million visitors, including a large number of international tourists. The successful hosting of events such as "World Culture Day," the "Vietnam Ao Dai Festival," and the "Hanoi Autumn Festival" has also integrated traditional culture with modern tourism spaces, strengthening Hanoi's brand image as the "Festival Capital."
The tourism industry points out that November is a crucial period for determining the year's performance. Hanoi will successively host the Hanoi Autumn Festival and the 2025 Ao Dai Festival, and organize travel agencies to conduct resource surveys and route matching in various regions.
In addition, the "Innovative Management, Protection, and Value Enhancement Model for the Huong Son (Huong Pagoda) National Special Relics Complex" is about to be submitted to the Hanoi People's Committee for approval, aiming to seek new breakthroughs in the development of religious and ecotourism. A number of new products, such as Soc Son night tours, Pottinger and Vinh Thien agricultural tourism, and An Xuan community tourism, are also being continuously improved and will be officially launched to the market soon.
The Hanoi Department of Tourism stated that it will take firm resolve and effective measures to welcome the peak tourist season at the end of the year, striving to lay a solid foundation for achieving the 2025 goals and accumulate momentum for new breakthroughs in the tourism industry in 2026. (End)
