  Putin pointed out that the relationship between Russia and Laos has always been built on a solid foundation of friendship, mutual respect, and high mutual trust. 2024 marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and bilateral economic and trade cooperation has shown a good development trend, with bilateral trade volume doubling by the end of 2024 compared to 2023. Although the overall trade volume still needs to be increased, the overall momentum of bilateral cooperation is very robust.

  Putin also warmly welcomed Thongloun Sisoulith to Moscow. He recalled that meetings between the two heads of state have become a precious tradition. This is Thongloun Sisoulith's second visit to Moscow to attend Victory Day celebrations, and he also paid an official state visit to Russia in July 2024.
