Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) reports that Luang Prabang, Laos, boasts a history of approximately 1200 years. Formerly the capital of the Kingdom of Champa and the Lan Xang Kingdom, its name evolved through several name changes, including Khao A, Xiang Dong, and Xiang Thong, before finally adopting the name "Luang Prabang" after a sacred Buddha statue brought by King Phahang Mahara. This ancient city, a blend of unique history, culture, traditional features, and natural beauty, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site on December 9, 1995. It is both a core treasure trove of Lao cultural heritage and a source of international renown for the country.

Lang Prabang is situated on Dong Noi Island, between the Nam Khan and Mekong Rivers, bordered by unique natural landscapes. It has well-preserved a wealth of temple architecture, cultural relics, folk arts, and lifestyles. As the city with the highest concentration of tourist attractions in Laos, Luang Prabang boasts 228 sites, encompassing 108 natural landscapes, 86 cultural sites, and 34 historical sites. Signature experiences include: climbing to the top of a pagoda temple for panoramic city views, visiting Wat Xieng Thong, known as the "most beautiful temple," touring the Luang Prabang Museum (converted from the old royal palace), taking photos at Kuang Si Falls, experiencing the vibrant atmosphere of night and morning markets, and exploring traditional handicrafts such as pottery and paper art in Ban Chan Khong village.

Today, Luang Prabang has become a popular global tourist destination, thanks to the warm hospitality of its residents and its internationally standardized tourism facilities—with over 90 hotels, over 300 guesthouses, over 300 restaurants, and over 90 travel agencies to cater to diverse traveler needs. In recent years, Luang Prabang has garnered numerous accolades: Laos as a whole has won over 20 awards at the ASEAN Tourism Standards Awards, while the province and related organizations have received recognition for numerous other awards, including the ASEAN Hotel Standards Award (Luang Prabang Grand Hotel, etc.), the Clean Tourism City Standards Award, the Sustainable Tourism Award (National Museum), and the Best Festival Venue Award.

Besides its natural and cultural charm, Luang Prabang's traditional cuisine is also a highlight of its tourism offerings. Dishes such as Aydram, Chabang, Kepha, and Saivat are beloved by tourists. As its motto suggests, this "Silk City" and "Sweet Dessert City," with its mountain-surrounded scenery, the tranquility of ancient temples, and the aroma of authentic local food, perfectly embodies the diverse value of a World Heritage Site, making it an ideal destination for relaxation and cultural immersion.
