
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On February 13, 2025, Vietnamese President Luong Cuong met with Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee Member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane at the Presidential Palace. Thongsavanh stated that Vietnam was the first country he visited after assuming his new post, and expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese Party, State, and people for their continued solidarity and support with the Lao Party, State, and people of all ethnic groups.
Luong Cuong congratulated the Lao Party, State, and people on their recent significant achievements. He expressed his belief that Thongsavanh, with his rich experience and positive feelings towards Vietnam, would make even greater contributions to bilateral relations in his new role.
Luong Cuong highly praised the recent achievements of cooperation between the two foreign ministries, noting their tangible contributions to strengthening bilateral relations. He thanked the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its attention to and support for the Vietnamese community in Laos.
Both Luong Cuong and Thongsavanh emphasized that the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos are unique in the world, and expressed their pleasure at the recent significant achievements in bilateral relations. Defense and security cooperation is a vital pillar of bilateral relations. Trade and investment cooperation has seen robust growth; the number of Vietnamese-invested enterprises in Laos is increasing. Exchanges between localities and peoples of both countries are continuously strengthening.
The two leaders agreed to strengthen education for the younger generation about the precious feelings between the two parties and peoples, regarding these feelings as a valuable asset of both nations. Liang Quang suggested that both sides cooperate in successfully organizing important commemorative events in 2025.
In exchanging views on international and regional issues of common concern, the two leaders emphasized the need for close coordination within regional and international frameworks and occasions in the face of rapidly changing and complex regional and global situations.
