Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On November 29th, at the tri-border area of Vietnam, Laos, and China, a cross-departmental working group from Dien Bien Province, Vietnam, and a cross-departmental working group from Phongsaly Province, Laos, conducted a bilateral inspection and held talks on constructing border guard posts and expanding border patrol trails on the Vietnamese side of the tri-border area.
Senior Colonel Pham Hong Giang, Deputy Director of the Dien Bien Provincial Border Work Steering Committee and Deputy Commander of the Provincial Border Guard Command, led the Vietnamese delegation; Senior Colonel Khăm Phon Seng Si Vông Sa, Commander of the Phongsaly Provincial Military Command, led the Lao delegation.
Both sides emphasized the necessity of constructing border guard posts and expanding border patrol trails on the Vietnamese side of the border. This will provide infrastructure support for the tri-national defense friendship exchange to be held in 2025, and will also create favorable conditions for tourists to visit the border area and for Vietnamese departments to manage and protect the border.
According to the plan, the border guard post will be built on a hillside within Vietnam, approximately 24 meters northwest of the border, and 0.5 meters from the closest point on the Vietnam-Laos border line.
Senior Colonel Pham Hong Giang emphasized that the construction progress of the border guard post and border patrol road projects will not change the current direction of the border line. He stressed strict adherence to the "Agreement on the Management of the Vietnam-Laos Land Border and Border Crossings" and other relevant agreements signed by both sides, and acceptance of supervision by specialized agencies of both sides.
On the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (December 2, 1975 – December 2, 2024), Senior Colonel Pham Hong Giang extended his congratulations to all members of the Phongsaly delegation. He also expressed his hope that Senior Colonel Khăm Phon Seng Si Vông Sa, Commander of the Phongsaly Provincial Military Command, would closely cooperate to facilitate the implementation of the consensus and agreements reached by relevant units of the two provinces, and contribute to fostering lasting and enduring Vietnam-Laos solidarity and friendship.
